Biography

 

Lieutenant Colonel Eric Kruse
Battalion Commander
1st Battalion, 25th Marine Regiment

Lieutenant Colonel Kruse is currently the Battalion Commander for 1st Battalion, 25th Marines.

In 2003, Second Lieutenant Kruse completed the Marine Corps The Basic School and Infantry Officer Course in Quantico Virginia. He was then assigned to 2d Battalion, 6th Marines where he commanded a rifle platoon. During this tour he participated in a UDP to Okinawa and support JSOTF-P in the Philippines.

In 2004, he was assigned to Small Craft Company Headquarters Battalion 2d Marine Division as a platoon commander. First Lieutenant Kruse deployed as platoon commander in support of Operation IRAQI FREEDOM, conducting combat and counter insurgency operations throughout Iraq along the Euphrates River.

In 2005, he was assigned to the Anti-Terrorism Battalion II Marine Expeditionary Force as the Assistant Operations Officer. From May to September 2006, he was a Riverine Advisor attached to EWGTLANT supporting the Navy's standing up the new Riveron Squadrons. From October 2006 to February 2007, he attended various reconnaissance schools.

In 2007, Captain Kruse was assigned to 3d Reconnaissance Battalion as the Assistant Operations Officer and was then selected as the Aide-de-Camp for the Commanding General of 3d Marine Division.

In 2008, he transition to the Individual Ready Reserve. In May 2009, Capt Kruse joined 3d Force Reconnaissance Company as the Operations Officer.

In 2010, he joined Weapons Company 2d Battalion, 23d Marines as the Company Executive Officer. In 2011, he later assumed command of Weapons Company. In 2012, Major Kruse joined the Georgia Deployment Program - ISAF as the Rotation 10 OIC. He deployed to Krtsanisi National Training Center Georgia.

In 2013, he joined 3d Battalion, 25th Marines as the Operations Officer. He would later assume the Executive Officer position. In 2016, he joined Marine Corps Tactics and Operations Group IMA as the Team 2 OIC.

In 2019, Lieutenant Colonel Kruse joined MCAC-B initially as the Operations Advisor then Team Deputy for Team 2. In 2021, he assumed the position as Team Leader for Team 1.

His personal awards include three Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medals and one Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal.

He is a graduate of The Basic School, Infantry Officers Course, Army Airborne School, Amphibious Reconnaissance School, SERE, Marine Combatant Diver Course, MCTOG Tactical MAGTF Integration Course, the Los Angeles Police Academy, and Command and Staff College. Lieutenant Colonel Kruse received a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from West Virginia University in 2002. When not drilling, he owns and works for family owned mechanical contracting company and owns a construction inspection services company.
