Sergeant Major Adam Casas assumed his current post as Marine Light Helicopter Attack Squadron -775 Squadron Sergeant Major on April 24, 2022. He enlisted out of Merced, California in March of 2002 and attended recruit training at Marine Corps Recruit Depot San Diego, California in August of 2002. After completion of Marine Combat Training in 2002, he completed his Military Occupational Specialty school and earned the occupational designator of 2311, Ammunition Technician, in February of 2003.
He deployed to Iraq in March of 2003 to take part in Operation Iraqi Freedom and was attached to Ammunition Company, Combat Service Support Battalion – 18, 1st Force Service Support Group. Lance Corporal Casas returned from Iraq and was assigned to Ammunition Company, 1st Supply Battalion, 1st Marine Division where he served in the billets of Ammunition Technician, Ammunition Supply Point Section Supervisor, Motor Vehicle Safety Inspection Supervisor, and Martial Arts Instructor and was promoted through the ranks of Corporal and Sergeant. In August of 2006, Sergeant Casas completed his active duty service and was reassigned to the Individual Ready Reserve.
In 2007, Sergeant Casas joined the Select Marine Corps Reserve and was assigned to Marine Wing Support Squadron 473 (Det -), 4th Marine Aircraft Wing, as an Aircraft Rescue and Firefighting Specialist. In 2008, Sergeant Casas was reassigned to Headquarters and Service Company, 4th Tank Battalion to serve as the Battalion Ammunition Chief. There, he held additional billets of Platoon Sergeant, Platoon Commander, and the Battalion Chief Martial Arts Instructor Trainer and was promoted to the rank of Staff Sergeant.
In 2011, Staff Sergeant Casas was reassigned to 4th Force Reconnaissance Company, 4th Marine Division to serve as the Ammunition Chief. There he held additional billets of Platoon Sergeant, Chief Martial Arts Instructor Trainer, and Company Gunnery Sergeant. He was promoted to the rank of Gunnery Sergeant in August of 2014.
In 2015, Gunnery Sergeant Casas was reassigned to Marine For Life, Headquarters Marine Corps Family Readiness Division, where he served as a Marine For Life Representative in the West Region in support of Marine veterans, reserves, and active duty service members transitioning into the civilian workforce.
In 2018, Gunnery Sergeant Casas was selected to First Sergeant and was assigned to Company A, 4th Tank Battalion, 4th Marine Division. In 2020, under the leadership of the Company Commander and First Sergeant Casas, Company A was awarded the General Clifton B. Cates Award for the best deployment and outstanding unit readiness in 4th Marine Division for 2019. In the same year, Company A was also awarded the Blue H – Navy Surgeon General’s Health Promotion and Wellness Award for the best overall unit health readiness in 4th Marine Division in 2019.
In 2020, 4th Tank Battalion was ordered to deactivate and Company A was the first of seven companies within the battalion to divest. In June of 2020, Company A cased its colors and First Sergeant Casas was reassigned to Headquarters and Service Company, 4th Tank Battalion, 4th Marine Division to serve as the Company First Sergeant.
In August of 2020, First Sergeant Casas was mobilized under Title-10 authorization and deployed for ten months to serve as the Senior Enlisted Leader for Task Force Commitment, in support of Marine Corps Recruit Depot Parris Island, SC in an effort to protect and maintain the recruit training pipeline from COVID-19 infections.
In June of 2021, First Sergeant Casas was reassigned to Company A, 4th Reconnaissance Battalion, 4th Marine Division to serve as the Company First Sergeant. First Sergeant Casas was selected for Sergeant Major and was assigned to Marine Light Helicopter Attack Squadron -775 to serve as the Squadron Sergeant Major in April of 2022.
Sergeant Major Casas holds a Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration with a focus in Management from Purdue University Global and is attending the Marshall School of Business at the University of Southern California to obtain his Master’s in Business Administration. His personal awards include the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal with a gold Star in lieu of second award, Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal, and other service medals.
