1stSgt Wilson enlisted as an Administrative Clerk (0151) in the Marine Corps Reserve in December 2002 and reported to recruit training at MCRD Paris Island in June, 2003. After completing MCT and MOS School, he reported to his first unit, Military Police Company A, 4th LE Bn in Lexington, Ky. He completed on the job training to fill a billet as a Field MP (5811) and deployed in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom in 2004, 2006, and 2008 serving as a Fire Team Leader and Squad Leader. After completing his initial enlistment, 1stSgt Wilson completed an inter-unit transfer to B Co, 4th Recon Bn in Smyrna, Ga. While assigned to 4th Recon Bn, he attended the School of Infantry-West becoming a Basic Rifleman (0311) in 2009, the Basic Reconnaissance Course becoming a Reconnaissance Marine (0321) in 2010, and Scout Sniper Basic Course in Quantico, Va becoming a Scout Sniper (0317) in 2011. He deployed twice while assigned to 4th Recon Bn serving as a Platoon Sergeant and the Chief Scout Sniper in the Ground Combat Element of the SPMAGTF for Black Sea Rotational Force in 2012 and as a Security Cooperation Team Chief for MEXMAR in 2015. After returning from the deployment in 2015, he represented the Marine Corps at the 18th Canadian International Sniper Concentration in New Brunswick, Canada, and joined the Marine Forces Reserve Shooting Team competing primarily in 3 gun competitions. In 2016, he completed an inter-unit transfer to B Co, Intel Support Bn (ISB) and graduated from the MAGTF CI/HUMINT Basic Course in Virginia Beach, Va becoming a CI/HUMINT Specialist (0211). From June 2016 to January 2017, he completed extended ADOS orders serving as the Security Cooperation Team Operations Chief at Marine Forces North in New Orleans, La. In 2017, he deployed as a member of Security Cooperation Team Jordan 17.2 serving as the Intel Chief and a Security Cooperation Team Chief. After returning from the deployment, he served as a Team Chief at B Co, ISB while simultaneously representing the Marine Forces Reserve Shooting team in regional and national 3-gun competitions as well as instructing at the Combat Marksmanship Coaches Reserve (CMCR) Course and Combat Marksmanship Trainers Reserve (CMTR) Course. For FY 2020, he was selected to serve as the Course Chief for both the CMTR and CMCR. 1stSgt Wilson was selected to his current rank in 2020 and was assigned to D Co, 4th Combat Engineer Bn in July, 2020.
1stSgt Wilson attended the University of Kentucky where he completed a B.S. in Accounting (2009), a B.S. in Economics (2011), an M.A. in Diplomacy and International Commerce (2013), and continues to study Modern Standard Arabic. His personal awards include the Navy Commendation Medal, Navy and Marine Corps Achievement medal with silver star device in lieu of 6th award, Combat Action Ribbon, and Bronze Division Match Shooting Badge. He works as a contractor for the U.S. State Department.
