First Sergeant Scott M. Legg

Private Scott M Legg enlisted in the Marine Corps August 1999 from RS Salt Lake City, Utah. He graduated from Recruit Training at MCRD San Diego, California as a Private First Class in November and attended training at Camp Pendleton, California in December 1999.

Private First Class Legg was ordered to Aberdeen, Maryland for training as an Infantry Small Arms Technician. Private First Class Legg reported for duty with 3rd Battalion 5th Marines, First Marine Division in February 2000.

Lance Corporal Legg deployed with the Command Element and Kilo Company to Idaho for Task Force Wildfire in 2000. In 2001 Lance Corporal Legg deployed in support of the 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit and was promoted to Corporal.

Corporal Legg was deployed to Kuwait in December 2002 as a member of CAAT Platoon in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom. Corporal Legg returned to the United States in July of 2003 and was honorably discharged.

Corporal Legg re-enlisted in the Marine Corps in 2006 and was ordered to Marine Attack Squadron 311 Yuma, AZ. That year he completed training in NAS Pensacola, FL and MCAS Cherry Point, NC for duties as an Aviation Electrician on AV-8B Harrier Aircraft. He executed orders back to MCAS Yuma, AZ in 2007 and promoted to the rank of Sergeant.

Sergeant Legg completed the Marine Corps Martial Arts Instructor Course and deployed to Iraq in 2008. In 2010 Sergeant Legg deployed in support of the 31st MEU and was promoted to the rank of Staff Sergeant. Staff Sergeant Legg was deployed again 2011 and received orders to Marine Corps Security Forces.

In November 2012 Staff Sergeant Legg completed training in Chesapeake, VA and reported for duty at Marine Corps Security Force Battalion, Naval Base Bangor, WA as a Platoon Sergeant and Platoon Commander. In 2015 Staff Sergeant Legg received and executed orders to Marine Attack Squadron 231 MCAS Cherry Point, NC. In August 2016 Staff Sergeant Legg was promoted to Gunnery Sergeant.

Gunnery Sergeant Legg deployed in 2016 in support of the Special Purpose MAGTF to Bahrain. During that deployment he received orders to Center Naval Aviation Technical Training Cherry Point, NC. In July 2017, Gunnery Sergeant Legg checked into CNATT as the Avionics Organizational Level SNCOIC and instructor. Gunnery Sergeant Legg was selected for promotion in 2019 and received orders to Kilo Company 3D Battalion 25th Marines, North Versailles, PA.

In July 2020 First Sergeant Legg reported for duty in North Versailles, PA as the Kilo Company I&I 1stSgt.       

First Sergeant Legg’s personal decorations include: The Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (w/2 gold stars), The Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (w/1 gold stars and “V”), and The Combat Action Ribbon.
