Biography

 

Captain Austin Sullivan
Commanding Officer
Military Police Company Alpha

Captain Sullivan is a native of Onslow County North Carolina. In 2010 after graduating high school Sullivan began his military career by enlisted in the Coast Guard reserves where he attended the Federal Law Enforcement Training Center (FLETC) and became a Maritime Law Enforcement specialist and served as a boarding officer for 4 years. While serving in the Coast Guard reserves, he attended Sam Houston State University where he would graduate with a Bachelors of Science in Criminal Justice in 2014.

In November of 2014, Captain Sullivan was commissioned in the United States Marines through the 10-week Officer Candidate Course. Following Commissioning he attended completed The Basic School and was selected to attend Military Police Officer Basic School where he graduated in 2016. After completing his initial training second Lieutenant Sullivan reported to 4th Law Enforcement Battalion, Bravo Company where he served as a Platoon Commander.

In 2017 he volunteered for and deployed as the Anti-Terrorism Officer for the Georgian Deployment Program. At the conclusion of his deployment, 1stLt Sullivan returned to 4th Law Enforcement Battalion, Company Bravo, and continued to serve as Platoon Commander and later the Company Executive Officer.

In March of 2019, Captain Sullivan again volunteered for and deployed as the Anti-Terrorism Officer of Special Purpose Marine Air Ground Task Force 19 Southern Command. During this year Captain Sullivan served as Jungle Warfare instructor both in Honduras and Colombia. Sullivan ended his deployment in late 2019 returning to Bravo Company as the Company Executive Officer.

In November of 2022, Captain Sullivan transferred and assumed Command of Company Alpha. Captain Sullivan's Most recent Annual Training periods include OCONUS exercises to Jordan and Egypt where he served in an advisor role training multinational partners in Law Enforcement Tactics and weapons handling.

In his civilian life, Captain Sullivan works as a commercial construction project manager. Captain Sullivan’s awards and decorations include the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Sea Service Deployment Ribbon-second award, Selected Marine Corps Reserve Medal, Armed Forces Reserve Medal, Global War on terrorism service medal, and the Global War on terrorism expeditionary medal.
