Sergeant Major Brian J. Hibbard
Command Senior Enlisted Leader
14th Marine Regiment

Sergeant Major Brian Hibbard, a native of New York, enlisted in the Marine Corps and reported to Marine Corps Recruit Depot-Parris Island, South Carolina in August 1999 for recruit training. Upon completion, he received orders to Headquarters and Service Company, 8th Tank Battalion, Rochester, NY.  In June 2000, he reported to Marine Corps Communications-Electronics School, Field Radio Operators Course at Marine Corps Air Ground Combat Center (MCAGCC), Twentynine Palms, California.  Upon completion of the Field Radio Operators Course he earned the Field Radio Operator MOS (0621) and the following summer reported to Marine Combat Training aboard Camp Geiger, North Carolina. 
 
From August 1999 to June 2004, Sergeant Major Hibbard was assigned to Headquarters and Service Company, 8th Tank Battalion, Rochester, NY, where he was promoted to the ranks of Lance Corporal, Corporal, and Sergeant.  Following the terrorist attacks on the World Trade Center in New York City on 11 September 2001, he volunteered to support rescue and recovery operations at Ground Zero.  As a Field Radio Operator at 8th Tanks, he held the billets of Platoon Sergeant and Battalion Color Sergeant.  During this time, he was awarded the 2004 8th Tank Battalion Marine Tanker of the Year Award. 
 
In June 2004, Sergeant Major Hibbard deployed with 1st Provisional Security Company, 8th Tank Battalion to Marine Corps Forces Central Command-Djibouti, Combined Joint Task Force-Horn of Africa, in support of Operation Enduring Freedom and Operation Iraqi Freedom under the additional MOS 8151, Marine Security Guard.  Upon his return in February 2005, he reported to Alpha Company, Anti-Terrorism Battalion, Rochester, NY. 
 
On 1 November 2006, Sergeant Major Hibbard was promoted to the rank of Staff Sergeant and was accepted into the Individual Mobilization Augmentation (IMA) program and received orders to Bravo Company (Tactical Communication Training School), Marine Corps Communication-Electronics School, Communication Training Battalion, MCAGCC, Twentynine Palms, CA, and held an Instructor/Class Advisor billet, while also holding the additional MOS 0629, Radio Chief.  On 1 August 2010, Sergeant Major Hibbard was promoted to the rank of Gunnery Sergeant. 

In October 2013, Sergeant Major Hibbard reported to Marine Corps Air Station Miramar, San Diego, CA, and was assigned to Reserve Support Unit (RSU), Air Station West.  Sergeant Major Hibbard held the Cyber Network Systems Chief billet, MOS 0659, serving as lead advisor to the command on all aspects related to communications, assets, and information assurance for the RSU.   
 
On 1 July 2015, Sergeant Major Hibbard was promoted to the rank of First Sergeant, MOS 8999, and assigned to serve as the Unit Senior Enlisted Leader (USEL) for November Battery, 5th Battalion, 14th Marines aboard Naval Weapons Station, Seal Beach, CA.  During this period, November Battery conducted multiple live-fire exercises, including the Multinational Exercise Agile Spirit-2017 in the Republic of Georgia.  In October 2017, Sergeant Major Hibbard was accepted into the Senior Enlisted Professional Military Education (SEPME) Course 1-18 aboard Marine Corps University, Quantico, Virginia. Upon graduation, he was awarded the United States Naval Institute General Mattis Writing Award in Recognition of Innovative Ideas.
 
In March 2019, Sergeant Major Hibbard mobilized and received orders to serve in the Ground Combat Element (GCE) of the Special Purpose Marine Air Ground Task Force-Southern Command 19 (SPMAGTF-SC19).  He deployed to Soto Cano Air Base, Honduras on 1 June 2019, where he served as the USEL and Marine Advisor under the additional MOS 0570/0571 in the GCE.  Upon returning from deployment in December 2019, Sergeant Major Hibbard rejoined November Battery and was selected for promotion to the rank of Sergeant Major in March 2020.  
 
On 11 July 2020, Sergeant Major Hibbard was frocked to his current rank and assumed the duties as the Command Senior Enlisted Leader (CSEL) for Marine Wing Support Squadron 473 (MWSS-473), Marine Aircraft Group 41 aboard Marine Corps Air Station, Miramar, CA.  Immediately upon assuming his duties at MWSS-473, he was mobilized from 1 September 2020 to 18 June 2021 and concurrently served as the CSEL of Task Force Resolve in support of the Training and Education Command Coronavirus Disease 2019 response effort aboard Marine Corps Recruit Depot/Western Recruiting Region-San Diego, CA (MCRD/WRR-SD).

Following the conclusion of Task Force Resolve, Sergeant Major Hibbard received orders to the G-3 Training Division, MCRD/WRR-SD, where he served as an Academic Instruction Evaluator and Curriculum Developer.  During this period, he was selected to serve as the Interim Director of Training by the Assistant Chief of Staff (AC/S) G-3.  
 
In October 2022, Sergeant Major Hibbard rejoined MWSS-473 to assume his full-time duties and responsibilities at the squadron.
 
In June 2023, Sergeant Major Hibbard reported to 14th Marine Regiment aboard Naval Air Station Joint Reserve Base Fort Worth, Texas, where he assumed the duties and responsibilities as the Command Senior Enlisted Leader.
 
Sergeant Major Hibbard's personal awards and decorations include the Meritorious Service Medal with two gold stars in lieu of third award, the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal with one gold star in lieu of second award, and the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal with one gold star in lieu of second award.
  
Sergeant Major Hibbard currently resides in San Diego, CA and is the Director of Training, G-3 Training Division, aboard Marine Corps Recruit Depot San Diego/Western Recruiting Region.  He holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree in History and Political Science and Masters of Science Degree in Education.
