Jacob Futch is a native of Plant City, Florida, and reported to Recruit Training at Parris Island, South Carolina in September 2001.  After graduation, Private Futch reported to School of Infantry-East (SOI-E), Camp Geiger, North Carolina (NC), and received the primary MOS of 0311 Infantry Rifleman.  

Private Futch next reported to Security Forces School in Chesapeake, Virginia.  Upon graduation he received orders to 1st Fleet Anti-terror Security Team (FAST) Company, Norfolk, Virginia.  After a short tour at FAST Company, Private Futch received orders to Naval Submarine Base Kingsbay, Georgia.     

In August 2004 Corporal Futch reported to Anti-Terrorism Battalion, Camp Lejeune, NC.  Corporal Futch served as a Squad Leader during a deployment with the Battalion to Iraq in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom in 2005.

In July 2006 Sergeant Futch reported to Recruiting Station Nashville, Tennessee (TN). Sergeant Futch was stationed at Recruiting Sub-station Jackson, TN where he completed a successful tour of duty and was promoted to the rank of Staff Sergeant meritoriously. 

In August 2009 Staff Sergeant Futch reported to 1st Battalion, 2nd Marines (1/2), aboard Camp Lejeune NC, where he served as Heavy Guns/Anti-Armor Platoon Sergeant during a deployment in support of Operation Enduring Freedom to Afghanistan.  
   
In April 2011 Staff Sergeant Futch received orders to 1st Battalion, 9th Marines (1/9).  While assigned to 1/9 he was the Senior Enlisted Advisor for a Police Mentoring Team for an Afghanistan deployment in 2011.  He also served as the Platoon Commander for 3rd Platoon, Alpha Company during a deployment to Kuwait in 2012.
  
In July 2013 Staff Sergeant Futch received orders to Marine Combat Instructors Course at SOI-E, Camp Gieger, NC.  Upon graduation he was assigned to Advanced Infantry Training Company, Advanced Infantry Training Battalion as a Combat Instructor with Advanced Infantryman Course (AIC).  After two classes with AIC, Staff Sergeant Futch moved to Infantry Small Unit Leaders Course. In September 2014 Staff Sergeant Futch was promoted to the rank of Gunnery Sergeant. After four classes with Infantry Small Unit Leaders Course Gunnery Sergeant Futch was moved to the Chief position at Combat Hunter. Gunnery Sergeant Futch was the course chief at Combat Hunter for one year before being selected to teach at Combat Instructors School.

In July of 2015 Gunnery Sergeant Futch was selected to teach at Combat Instructors School. After 2 classes Gunnery Sergeant Futch assumed the Marine Combat Instructor School Chief Instructor billet. Gunnery Sergeant Futch held the Chief Instructor billet until he received orders to Camp Mujuk, South Korea in April 2017.

In March 2018 Gunnery Sergeant Futch was promoted to First Sergeant. In April First Sergeant Futch executed orders to be the I&I First Sergeant for Company B, 4th Assault Amphibious Battalion Jacksonville Florida.   

First Sergeant Futch’s schools include; Recruiting School, Marine Corps Martial Arts Instructors Course, Infantry Unit Leaders Course, Staff Non-Commissioned Officers Academy, Combat Instructors Course, Staff Non-Commissioned Officers Advanced Course.
     
Gunnery Sergeant Futch’s personal awards include: Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal X2, Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal, and the Combat Action Ribbon.
