First Sergeant Derrick G. Siegfried

First Sergeant Derrick Siegfried, a native of Pennsylvania, enlisted in the United States Marine Corps Reserve and reported to Marine Corps Recruit Depot, Parris Island in June 2008. After completing recruit training, he reported to Marine Combat Training, Camp Geiger, NC in September 2008. In October 2008, he reported to Basic Food Service School, Fort Lee, VA where he was promoted to Private First Class. After completing MOS School, he reported to Motor Transport Company, Marine Wing Support Squadron 471, Detachment Alpha, Johnstown, PA.
 
First Sergeant Siegfried was assigned to Headquarters (HQ) Platoon, Motor Transport Company MWSS 471 in Johnstown, PA in January 2007. During his time there, he served as a Food Service Specialist where he was promoted to the rank of Lance Corporal. In June of 2010, First Sergeant Siegfried volunteered for Active Duty for Operational Support (ADOS) orders in support of Integrated Training Exercise (ITX) 3-10 and worked as a Food Service Specialist at Camp Wilson, 29 Palms, CA. In January 2011, he was promoted to Corporal and assigned to Squad Leader within HQ Platoon.
 
First Sergeant Siegfried continued as a drilling reservist while attending Shippensburg University and graduated in May 2011 with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Sociology. First Sergeant Siegfried was quickly promoted to the rank of Sergeant and assumed the billet of HQ Platoon Sergeant. During this time, Sgt Siegfried was hand selected to fulfill the billet of Food Service Mess Chief in support of Exercise Javelin Thrust 2012 supporting MWSS 472. He was awarded a Certificate of Commendation for his successful efforts while serving and fulfilling the role of a SNCO. 
 
In January 2014, First Sergeant Siegfried was accepted into the Harrisburg Area Police Academy and graduated in December 2014 at the top of his class academically. Additionally, he was hired by Hampden Township Police Department prior to his graduation. In October 2014 he was selected for Staff Sergeant and promoted in March 2015. First Sergeant Siegfried assumed the role of Section Head for HQ Platoon and lead the food service section in participating in the Major General William Pendleton Thompson (W.P.T.) Hill award where Motor Transport Company finished in second place in consecutive years (2015, 2016). 
 
In June 2017, First Sergeant Siegfried served as the MAGTF Mess Chief in support of ITX 4-17 at Camp Wilson, 29 Palms, CA. During this time, First Sergeant Siegfried was awarded the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal for his successful efforts and work ethic. His actions directly affected the entire training exercise for more than 3,000 Marines aboard Camp Wilson. 
 
In December 2019, First Sergeant Siegfried was promoted to the rank of Gunnery Sergeant and assumed the role of Company Gunnery Sergeant for Motor Transport Company, MWSS 471. In April 2020, First Sergeant Siegfried assumed an additional billet and became the Senior Enlisted Advisor. During the COVID-19 pandemic, First Sergeant Siegfried was instrumental in ensuring reserve Marines continued training safely and effectively while maintaining satisfactory participation. His efforts lead to the Company's increase in Personal Military Education (PME) and overall readiness within the squadron. 
 
In November 2024, First Sergeant Siegfried was promoted to the current rank of First Sergeant. He has been assigned to Military Police Company Charlie, 4th Law Enforcement Battalion, Wright Patterson Air Force Base, Dayton, OH as the Company Senior Enlisted Leader.
 
First Sergeant Siegfried's personal awards consist of the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal and Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal.
