First Sergeant Michael L. King
Inspector-Instructor Unit Senior Enlisted Leader
Support Company, 4th Law Enforcement Battalion

First Sergeant King attended recruit training on 29 November 2004 at Marine Corps Recruit Depot Parris Island South Carolina and graduated from the 2ND Recruit Training Battalion, Hotel Company on 25 February 2005. Upon completion, First Sergeant King attended Marine Combat Training at the School of Infantry, Camp Gieger, North Carolina and graduated 29 March 2005. He then reported to Pensacola, Florida for initial Ordnance training after completion he reported to Cherry Point, North Carolina for Aviation Ordnance Core Course graduating 29 August 2005, and was  assigned to Marine Aviation Logistics Squadron (MALS)-31 Beaufort, SC.

First Sergeant King fulfilled billets as a Quality Assurance Safety Observer (QASO) from September 2005 to December, 2008.  In December, 2008 First Sergeant King received orders and reported to MALS-26 Marine Corps Air Station, New River, North Carolina. Shortly after First Sergeant King King deployed to Iraq in Support of Iraqi Freedom from January, 2009 to February, 2010, where he served as the Ammunition Sentencing and reporting section (ASRS) Chief.

First Sergeant King requested and received orders to Drill Instructor School MCRD Parris Island, SC. Class 2-11 and was assigned to Company “I” 3RD Recruit Training Battalion where he served in the billets of Drill Instructor, Senior Drill Instructor, Chief Drill Instructor and S-4 Chief from May 2011 to May 2014. 

In June 2014, First Sergeant King received orders to MALS-11 Ordnance division MCAS Miramar, Where he was assigned as the SNCOIC of 71C/D work center. In January of 2015 he deployed to Iwakuni Japan with VMFA-323 from January 2015 to July 2015 he was the SNCOIC for the Ordnance Marines assigned to MALS-12.  In May of 2016 he was hand selected to be an Augment at OCS for the summer serving with Lima Company from May 2016 to August 2016 and assumed billets as a Sergeant Instructor.

First Sergeant King received orders in October 2016 to MCRD Parris Island, SC as a course challenger. First Sergeant King was assigned to Drill Instructor school where he served as a Squad Instructor and held packages as the Basic Warrior Training Instructor and the Drill Master.

In October 2018 First Sergeant King received orders to MCAS New River, NC and was assigned to Headquarters and Headquarters Squadron New River and assumed the billet as the Squadron Gunnery Sergeant, Station Ordnance SNCOIC also oversaw the Armory as well as the CHRIMP work centers.

In July 2021 First Sergeant King received orders to MCAS Cherry Point, NC and was assigned to Headquarters and Headquarters Squadron Cherry Point and assumed the billet as the Station Ordnance SNCOIC.

In March 2023 he assumed his current billet in Wahpeton North Dakota as the I&I first Sergeant.

First Sergeant King’s personal awards include the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal with Gold Star in lieu of Third award, Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal with Gold Stars in lieu of Third award.
