First Sergeant Joaquin Perez

First Sergeant Perez is a native of Salinas, California.  He enlisted in the United States Marine Corps on 2 June 2008.  He attended recruit training at Marine Corps Recruit Depot, San Diego, California. After graduating recruit training, he attended Marine Combat Training (MCT) at Camp Pendleton, California. Following completion of MCT he attended MOS school at Camp Johnson, North Carolina, for Supply Packaging Specialist (3052).

In November 2008, First Sergeant Perez received orders to Combat Logistics Regiment 15 (CLR-15), 1st Supply Battalion in Camp Pendleton, California where he served as a packaging specialist.  In December 2008, he was promoted to the rank of Private First Class.  In June 2009 First Sergeant Perez was meritoriously promoted to the rank of Lance Corporal and in March 2010 received orders to deploy in support of Operation Enduring Freedom where he served as operations chief of the detachment in Camp Dwyer, Afghanistan CLR15 FWD.  In June 2010, he was promoted to the rank of Corporal.

First Sergeant Perez was promoted to the rank of Sergeant in January 2012.  In May 2012, he volunteered and received orders to Combat Logistics Regiment 17, Camp Pendleton, California in support of Operation Enduring Freedom for Retrograde and Redeployment in Support of Reset and Reconstitution Operations Group (R4OG).  While being part of the R4OG he held the billet as Operations Chief for Preservation, Packaging, and Packing platoon from May 2012 through November 2012.  On December 2012 through April 2013 Gunnery Sergeant Perez held the billet as Fabrication Non-Commissioned Officer in charge (NCOIC) for R4OG, Headquarters Company.

In June 2013, First Sergeant Perez received orders to Marine Aviation Logistics-24 Kaneohe Bay, Hawaii, where he served as the NCOIC in the Supply Shipping Branch.  In March 2014, he received orders to Heavy Helicopter Squadron 463 in support of Marine Rotational Force Darwin, Air Combat Element, 1st Battalion, 5th Marines.  While deployed, First Sergeant Perez held the billet as NCOIC for the supply detachment.

In July 2015 First Sergeant Perez received orders to Drill Instructor School, Marine Corps Recruit Depot, San Diego, California.  Upon graduation of Drill Instructor School, First Sergeant Perez received orders to 3d Battalion, Co L where he served as a Drill Instructor and Senior Drill Instructor.  In October of 2016, First Sergeant Perez was promoted to Staff Sergeant. On January 20, 2018, First Sergeant Perez was transferred to Co I to serve as a Chief Drill Instructor.

In September of 2018, First Sergeant Perez was transferred to the Instructor Staff, Drill Instructor School, MCRD San Diego, CA where he served as a Squad Instructor.  First Sergeant Perez was promoted to Gunnery Sergeant in April of 2019.

In December of 2019, First Sergeant Perez reported to 2D Supply Battalion where he served as the Operations Chief and Company First Sergeant with MMDC. He then volunteered to deploy as the Distribution Liaison Cell Chief in support of the 22nd Marine Expeditionary unit. Upon returning from the MEU First Sergeant Perez served as the Operations Chief for the P3&M section.

First Sergeant Perez was promoted to his current rank in August of 2023 and received orders to serve as the Company First Sergeant for Marine Corps Advisor Company Bravo, Force Headquarters Group.

First Sergeant Perez's personal decorations include the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal with one gold star and Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal with two gold stars.
