First Sergeant Cimmarrusti is a native of San Diego, CA. He enlisted in the Marine Corps on February 22, 2010 and reported to Marine Corps Recruit Depot (MCRD) San Diego, California for training with Company L, Third Recruit Training Battalion. Upon graduation, he attended Infantry Training Battalion (ITB) at the School of Infantry (SOI), Camp Pendleton, CA. Following completion of ITB, he obtained the military occupational specialty (MOS) of Anti-Tank Missileman (0352).
In August 2010, First Sergeant Cimmarrusti received orders to Weapons Company, 2nd Battalion, 7th Marines located at Marine Air-Ground Combat Center, Twentynine Palms, CA. In April 2011, he was promoted to the rank of Lance Corporal. In June of 2011, First Sergeant Cimmarrusti was deployed as a Vehicle Gunner and Radio Operator in support of 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit (MEU) aboard USS Germantown (LSD-42).
In September 2012, First Sergeant Cimmarrusti deployed to Kajaki, Afghanistan in support of Operation Enduring Freedom. Shortly after, First Sergeant Cimmarrusti was promoted to Corporal meritoriously. Upon returning from Afghanistan in April of 2013, First Sergeant Cimmarrusti attended Anti-Tank Missileman Leaders Course located at ITB, SOI-West.
In October 2013, he received orders to Recruiter School located at MCRD, San Diego, California, Class 1-14. Upon graduation from Recruiter School, First Sergeant Cimmarrusti was assigned to Recruiting Station Charleston, West Virginia, Recruiting Sub-Station (RSS) North Columbus, Ohio. He served as a Canvassing Recruiter and RSS Staff Non-Commissioned Officer in Charge (SNCOIC). On 1 April 2014, First Sergeant Cimmarrusti was promoted to Sergeant. While on recruiting duty, First Sergeant Cimmarrusti enlisted 52 applicants as a Canvassing Recruiter and enlisted 110 applicants as a SNCOIC. In January 2016, First Sergeant Cimmarrusti was meritoriously promoted to Staff Sergeant.
In January 2017, First Sergeant Cimmarrusti was assigned to Golf Company, 2nd Battalion, 1st Marines as a Rifle Platoon Sergeant. In March of 2017, First Sergeant Cimmarrusti attended Infantry Unit Leaders Course located at Advanced Infantry Training Battalion, SOI-West. Upon graduation, he was assigned the MOS of Infantry Unit Leader (0369). In October 2017, First Sergeant Cimmarrusti deployed to Camp Schwab, Okinawa in support of UDP Okinawa 18.1. Upon return from deployment in April 2018, First Sergeant Cimmarrusti was assigned to I Expeditionary Operations Training Group as the Operations Chief for the Advisor Training Branch. During this time, he trained two iterations of Task Force Al Asad and two iterations of Task Force TQ and attended Ground Combat Element Operations Course.
In April of 2019, First Sergeant Cimmarrusti returned to Golf Company, 2nd Battalion, 1st Marines as a Rifle Platoon Sergeant and deployed in support of 31st MEU. Shortly after returning from deployment, in January of 2020, First Sergeant Cimmarrusti checked into Drill Instructor School Class 2-20, Marine Corps Recruit Depot, San Diego, CA, and upon graduating, was voted by his peers as the Leadership Award recipient. In December 2020, he was promoted to the rank of Gunnery Sergeant. Assigned to 1st Recruit Training Battalion (RTBN), he served as a green belt drill instructor with Company C, a senior drill instructor with Company A, 1st RTBN Operations Chief, and a chief drill instructor with Company D. In May of 2022, First Sergeant Cimmarrusti was transferred to Drill Instructor School where he served as the Marine Corps Common Skills Instructor and School Drill Master for four classes.
In 2023, First Sergeant Cimmarrusti executed orders to 5th Marine Regiment where he served as the Assistant Battalion Operations Chief and Headquarters and Services Company First Sergeant for 1st Battalion, 5th Marines and Company Operations Chief for 3rd Battalion, 5th Marines, Lima Company. Upon selection to First Sergeant, First Sergeant Cimmarrusti was assigned to his current duty station at 4th Law Enforcement Battalion, Company C in Dayton, OH where he is serving as the Inspector-Instructor First Sergeant.
First Sergeant Cimmarrusti's personal awards include the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (2nd award), Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (3rd award) and Combat Action Ribbon.
