Biography

 

First Sergeant Juan E. Duque

First Sergeant (1stSgt) Duque is a native of Medellin, Colombia.  He enlisted in the Marine Corps on 7 July 2004.  He attended recruit training at Marine Corps Recruit Depot, Parris Island, South Carolina. Upon graduation he reported to Marine Combat Training at Camp Geiger, NC.  After completion 1stSgtDuque reported to Meridian, MS and received the military occupational specialty of 6672 Aviation Supply Specialist.

In March of 2005, 1stSgt Duque received orders to Marine Aviation Logistics Squadron 31 (MALS-31) where he worked as a Squadron Support Branch clerk.  In March 2006 1stSgt Duque deployed with Veteran Marine Fighter Attack Squadron 251 to the Mediterranean.  Four months into the deployment 1stSgt Duque was deployed from the USS Enterprise to al Anbar Province, Iraq in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom.
 
In November of 2006, 1stSgt Duque returned to MALS-31 where he assumed the duties of Supply Management Division NCOIC.  In June of 2007, 1stSgt Duque volunteered for anindividual augment billet and he reported to Marine Wing Support Squadron 274 for training. 1stSgt Duque deployed to al Anbar Province with MWSS-274 where he was part of security detail for the Commanding General of al Asad Air Base.

In April of 2010, 1stSgt Duque received orders to Drill Instructor School, Marine Corps Recruit Depot, San Diego, CA.  Upon 1stSgt Duque received orders to 1st Battalion, Co C.  1stSgt Duque served as a Drill Instructor, Senior Drill Instructor, and Academics Instructional Platoon Instructor.

In June of 2013, 1stSgt Duque reported to MALS-11 aboard Marine Corps Air Station Miramar, CA.  While at MALS-11, 1stSgt Duque filled the billet of Supply Response Division SNCOIC.  In May of 2014 1stSgt Duque received orders to MALS-12, MCAS Iwakuni.  While at MALS-12, 1stSgt Duque was the Travis Air Force Base liaison, Consumable Control Branch SNCOIC and, Technical Research Branch SNCOIC.

In July of 2016, 1stSgt Duque received orders to Drill Instructor School, Marine Corps Recruit Depot, San Diego.  1stSgt Duque was assigned to Company F, 2nd Recruit Training Battalion where he served as Senior Drill Instructor, Chief Drill Instructor and Company 1stSgt.  On July 2, 2017 1stSgt Duque was meritoriously promoted to his current rank. On April 2018 1stSgt Duque was assigned as Drill Instructor school west, where he is the Schools Drill Master. 

In October of 2019, 1stSgt Duque received orders to MALS-26 supply department, where he served as the Aviation Supply Warehouse Chief.  In June 2021, 1stSgt Duque was frocked to his current rank. 1stSgt Duque's assignments as a 1stSgt are Company C, 8th ESB, Communications Company, HQBN, 2D Mar Div.

    His personal awards include the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal with 2 gold stars in lieu of 3rd award, Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal with 3 gold stars in lieu of 4th award, the Marine Corps Good Conduct Medal with 2 bronze stars in lieu of 3rd award, and the Marine Corps Drill Instructor Ribbon with bronze star.
