First Sergeant Garcia is a native of Amarillo, Tx. He enlisted in in the United States Marine Corps in May 2005. Upon completing Recruit Training with Company B, 1st Recruit Training Battalion, Marine Corps Recruit Depot, San Diego, California he attended the School of Infantry West aboard Camp Pendleton, California for Marine Corps Combat Training. In August, 2005, First Sergeant Garcia attended the Military Police School at Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri where he earned the Primary MOS of 5811 Military Policeman.
In December 2005, First Sergeant Garcia received orders to Marine Corps Air Station Iwakuni, Japan where he served as a Military Policeman. In February, 2006 he was promoted to the rank of Lance Corporal. He was selected to attend the Military Police Special Reaction Team (SRT) course at Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri. Upon completion of the course in August of 2006 he served as a member of SRT. In September 2006, he was then selected to attend the Military Working Dog (MWD) handler course at Marine Corps Military Police Detachment, Lackland Air Force Base, San Antonio, Texas and while attending was promoted to the rank of Corporal. Upon completion of the course in December 2006 he served as both a member of SRT and as a Military Working dog handler. First Sergeant Garcia deployed in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom in November 2007 where he served as an explosives dog handler. First Sergeant Garcia returned from deployment in July of 2008 and returned to MCAS Iwakuni for duty as a Military Police Patrol Supervisor and MWD Kennel Master. Upon promotion to the rank of Sergeant in October 2009, First Sergeant Garcia was appointed as the 4th Platoon Watch Commander.
In March 2010, First Sergeant Garcia received orders to Marine Corps Detachment Lackland, AFB, San Antonio, Texas. He was then assigned to the Air Forces 341st TRS Squadron Dog Training School where he served as a MWD trainer. In December 2010, First Sergeant Garcia was selected to serve as Instructor for the MWD Handler Course. In September 2012, he was awarded a Navy and Marine Corps Achievement medal for his outstanding performance, by fulfilling the comprehensive formal training requirements in its entirety earning the coveted title of “Master Instructor.”
First Sergeant Garcia received orders to Recruiting School, Marine Corps Recruit Depot, San Diego California in October of 2012. Upon successful completion of the course, First Sergeant Garcia was assigned as a Canvassing Recruiter with Recruiting Sub-Station Pearl City, Recruiting Station Orange, Hawaii. He was then selected to serve as assistant SNCOIC in July of 2013. First Sergeant Garcia was promoted meritoriously to the rank of Staff Sergeant on 2 July 2014.
In February 2016, First Sergeant Garcia received orders to Marine Corps Air Station Iwakuni, Japan, where he served at the Provost Marshal's Office as a Watch Commander, Kennel Master, and Assistant Operations Chief. In July 2018, First Sergeant Garcia was then selected to serve as the H&HS Squadron Gunnery Sergeant for the remainder of his tour. He was promoted to the rank of Gunnery Sergeant in August of 2018.
In January 2019, First Sergeant Garcia received orders to 1st Law Enforcement Battalion, CA, where he served as the Chief Kennel Master, Battalion Substance Abuse Control Officer, and Uniformed Readiness Coordinator. In September 2020, First Sergeant Garcia was transferred to Marine Corps Air Station Miramar, Ca, where he served as the Military Working Dog Kennel Master. Upon receiving orders to his current duty station, he was frocked to his current rank in April 2022.
First Sergeant Garcia reported to Company A, 4th Reconnaissance Battalion in May 2022, to serve as the Unit Senior Enlisted Leader and Inspector & Instructor First Sergeant.
First Sergeant Garcia's personal decorations include the Navy & Marine Corps Commendation Medal, Navy & Marine Corps Achievement Medal with two Gold Stars in lieu of third award. Good Conduct Medal in lieu of fifth award.
