Lieutenant Colonel Erik Walker is a native of Charlottesville, VA. He graduated from the United States Naval Academy in 2004 with a Bachelor of Science in Systems Engineering and accepted a commission as a 2nd Lieutenant in the Marine Corps. Following The Basic School, he attended the Infantry Officer Course, then reported to 2d Battalion 2d Marines at Camp Lejeune, North Carolina as a rifle platoon commander. In May 2005, he deployed in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom. In June 2006, he was promoted to the rank of 1st Lieutenant and assigned to be the executive officer of Headquarters and Service Company for 2/25. He deployed with the 26th Marine Expeditionary Unit (MEU) to the Mediterranean Sea.

Following the deployment, 1st Lieutenant Walker completed MARSOC Assessment and Selection before receiving orders to 3d Reconnaissance Battalion, Camp Schwab, Okinawa, Japan. He deployed as the assistant operations officer in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom and was promoted to the rank of Captain in June 2008. Upon return from deployment, he was assigned to the amphibious reconnaissance platoon and deployed with the 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit in April 2009.

In September 2009, Captain Walker reported to the Marine Special Operations Regiment at Camp Lejeune, North Carolina and served as the assistant future operations officer. In November 2010, he was assigned to 2d Marine Special Operations Battalion as the assistant operations officer before joining Marine Special Operations Company H as a team leader. He deployed in support of Operation Enduring Freedom in January 2012.

Captain Walker ended active duty in November 2012 and accepted a commission in the Marine Corps Reserve. He joined the MARSOC Individual Marine Augment program in March 2013 to support the G-7 during special operations training exercises. He was promoted to the rank of Major in June 2014.

Major Walker reported to 2d Battalion, 25th Marines at Garden City, New York in December 2015 to serve as the Weapons Company Commander. He deployed to Exercise Northern Strike and supported the battalion as the Fire Support Coordinator. In December 2016, he assumed the duties of the battalion executive officer and deployed to the Integrated Training Exercise in 29 Palms, California where he assumed the duties of the battalion operations officer for the culminating exercise.

Major Walker reported to 3d Force Reconnaissance Company at Mobile, Alabama in November 2017 to serve as the assistant operations officer. He assumed the duties of the operations officer in June 2018. He was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant Colonel in February 2020.

Lieutenant Colonel Walker is married and has one child. His personal decorations include the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal with gold star in lieu of second award, Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal and the Combat Action Ribbon with gold star in lieu of second award.
