First Sergeant David B. Fekety

First Sergeant Fekety is a native of Staten Island, NY and spent his childhood there before moving to Manalapan, NJ. He graduated from Manalapan High School and then Attended Brookdale Community College where he earned 2 degrees.  In May of 2000 he enlisted in the United States Marine Corps. He attended recruit training at 1st Battalion, Marine Corp Recruit Depot, Parris Island, SC

Upon completion of recruit training, First Sergeant Fekety then attended Marine Corps Communication Electronics School at Twentynine Palms, CA. In November 2000, First Sergeant Fekety was transferred off active duty to the Selected Marine Corps Reserve and reported to Golf Battery 3rd Battalion 14th Marine Regiment West Trenton, NJ. During the next 8 years at Battery G 3/14. He held several billets including Team Leader, Squad leader, Radio Chief and Battery Guide.

While assigned to Golf Battery, First Sergeant Fekety was mobilized in May of 2002 in support of Operation Enduring Freedom. He attached to 2nd Marine Expeditionary Force MARFOR UNITAS 43-02 at Camp Lejeune, NC. He further deployed aboard the USS Portland in August 2002 to conduct joint training and force protection throughout the Caribbean, Central and South America. In January 2003 he demobilized and returned to Golf Battery 3/14. In May 2006, Golf Battery 3/14 was mobilized in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom. He was Pulled from Gulf Battery 3/14 sent to 1st Marine Expeditionary Force G10. Where he attended Foreign Military Advisor School Camp Pendleton CA. In September 2006 he was deployed to Fallujah, Iraq as part of 1st Marine Expeditionary Force G10 Police Transition Team 3. Where he was responsible for training, mentoring, and standing up units within the Fallujah Iraq regional police force.  In April 2007 He was Combat Meritoriously promoted to the rank of Staff Sergeant. In July 2007 he demobilized and returned to Golf Battery 3/14.

In August 2008 First Sergeant Fekety transferred to the Individual Ready Reserves and was Honorable discharged from the United States Marine Corp Reserves.

In July 2012 First Sergeant Fekety reenlisted and rejoined the United States Marine Corp Reserves. He was assigned to Support Company 6th Communications Battalion Brooklyn, NY. While at 6th Communications Battalion. He attended numerous Annual Training events in and outside the continental United States to include African Lion 2013 (Morocco). 

In September 2018 First Sergeant Fekety transferred to the Induvial Ready Reserves to attend Paramedic program at Westchester community College. In January 2020, he rejoined the Selected Marine Corps Reserve and Headquarters Company MWSS-472 and assigned as Squadron S6 Transmission and Radio Chief.  

First Sergeant Fekety was selected in March 2023 to his current rank and assigned to Foxtrot Company 2nd Battalion 25th Marine Regiment.

He is a twenty-year veteran of the New York City Police Department.

First Sergeant Fekety’s Personal awards include Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal with 3 gold stars in lieu of fourth award, Combat Action Ribbon, and Selected Marine Corps Reserve Medal fourth award.
