Staff Sergeant Douglas A. Weems Jr.

Staff Sergeant Douglas A. Weems Jr. is a native of Detroit, Michigan. He enlisted into the Marine Corps in June 2008, and he attended recruit training at MCRD Parris Island, SC. Upon graduation, he was meritoriously promoted to the rank of Private First Class and reported to Marine Corps Combat Training, Camp Geiger, NC. Upon completion, Staff Sergeant Weems reported to Fort Leonard Wood, MO where he successfully completed Basic Military Police (5811) School. 

In February of 2009, Staff Sergeant Weems was ordered to PMO, MCB Camp Smedley D. Butler Okinawa, Japan where he served as patrolman and gate sentry aboard MCB Camp Foster. In April 2009, he was promoted to the rank of Lance Corporal. Shortly after in November of 2009 he received TAD orders for USFK, HQ, MCB Camp Mujuk, Korea where he served as a NCOIC and Desk Sergeant. In September of 2010, Staff Sergeant Weems returned to PMO, MCB Camp Smedley Okinawa, Japan where he served as Desk Sergeant and Senior Patrolman.

 

In March 2011, he was assigned to 2D MLG, CLR 27, MP Co., MCB Camp Lejeune, NC. During his tour, he was promoted to Corporal in August of 2011 and assumed duties of Squad Leader. In September 2011, he received TAD orders for 2D MLG, CLB 26, MP Det, MCB Camp Lejeune, NC where he served many billets to include: Squad Leader, Training NCO, Lead MCMAP Instructor and Personal Security Officer for the Commanding Officer. In August 2012, he was meritoriously promoted to the rank of Sergeant. In March 2013, Staff Sergeant Weems deployed with the 26th MEU to perform duties within the African, Central and Europe Command areas. Upon completion of tour, he received a Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal for his actions during deployment. He returned from deployment in November of 2013 where he resumed orders at 2D LE Bn, MCB Camp Lejeune, NC.

In March 2014, Sergeant Staff Weems executed orders to HQ, Pacific Command, MCB Camp Smith, HI where he served as a security/vehicle operator for the Commanding Officer of Pacific Command. In April of 2014, he attended and graduated from Protective Service Training Course where he was certified as a Naval Criminal Investigation Service Operational Agent. In February 2016, he was promoted to Staff Sergeant and assumed the duties of Team Leader. During that time, he provided security for many high-profile personnel (i.e. Secretary of State, Security of Defense, Chairman of Joint Chief of Staff, Secretary of Navy, Secretary of Army, Commandant of the Marine Corps and many more) within the Pacific Region. He was later awarded Joint Service Achievement Medal for his actions. In February 2017, SSgt Weems received TAD orders Marine Corps Forces Pacific, Headquarters and Service Battalion, Training Section where he held the billet of Training Chief.

In October 2017, Staff Sergeant Weems attended the Marine Corps Recruiting School. Upon completion he was assigned to Recruiting Station Lansing MI, Officer Selection Station East Lansing MI where he performed the billet of Officer Selection Assistant. Throughout his recruiting duties, Staff Sergeant Weems had a successful tour and was awarded numerous Letters of Appreciation and a Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal for his performance in recruiting, developing, and mentoring candidates for Officer Candidate School.

In March 2021, Staff Sergeant Weems executed orders to SES Bn, PMO, MCB Camp Pendleton and served as Watch Chief for 3rd Platoon. In June 2022, he was assigned as Special Reaction Team Commander and fulfilled that duty until the end of his tour. He was awarded a Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal for his duties and development of Camp Pendleton Special Reaction Team. Staff Sergeant Weems executed orders to 4th LE Bn, HQ Co, Det 1 in October of 2023 where he currently serves as the I-I Senior Enlisted Advisor.    

His Personal Awards include the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal, Joint Service Achievement Medal, and Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal with gold star in lieu of second award.
