Major Weinstein is a native of Alexandria, VA. He attended Officer Candidate School and was commissioned in the United States Marine Corps in August 2010. After completing The Basic School in March 2011, Second Lieutenant Weinstein attended the Basic Communications Officer Course, graduating in June 2012.
Second Lieutenant Weinstein received one year of reserve orders to 1st MLG Communications Company, where he was assigned to the Multiplexing and later the Wire Platoon in July 2012. He was promoted to First Lieutenant in August 2012. At the completion of his tour, First Lieutenant Weinstein deployed to Zambia in August 2013 in support of Exercise Africa Endeavor, where he served as a communications trainer. Upon returning to the U.S., he became a TRC-170 Platoon Commander at 6th Communication Battalion in Brooklyn, New York.
He was promoted to Captain in September 2014 and later volunteered as the Deployable Joint Command and Control (DJC2) Detachment Commander in Bahrain, serving from May 2015 to February 2016. During this deployment, he played a key role as a leading planner for Exercise Iron Magic 15, a bilateral training event. This exercise required him to redeploy the DJC2 to the United Arab Emirates to support both an amphibious offload by the 26th MEU and MOUT training to prepare the host nation's Presidential Guard for deployment to Yemen.
After his deployment, Captain Weinstein assumed the duties of Executive Officer of General Support Company at 6th Communication Battalion, serving from February 2016 to September 2016. In October 2016, Captain Weinstein was selected to become a Cyber Plans Officer at the Marine Corps Cyber Operations Group (MCCOG) in Quantico, Virginia, where he served until April 2017. In May 2017, Captain Weinstein mobilized for three years to Marine Forces Cyber Command in Fort Meade, Maryland. During this period, he served as a Defensive Cyber Planner, Watch Officer, and Orders Cell Officer OIC. Captain Weinstein demobilized in May 2020 and served as an Offensive Cyber Planner for the unit until detaching in November 2021. He was promoted to Major in July 2020.
In December 2021, Major Weinstein became an Operations Planner at the Joint Enabling Capabilities Command in Norfolk, VA. In this role, he supported high-level planning exercises at the United States Southern Command, United States Army Pacific Command, United States Naval Forces Central Command in Bahrain, and he led British and Canadian communications troops in the field during Exercise Cobb Ring 23 in Tampa, Florida.
In October 2024, Major Weinstein assumed command of Communications Company, 14th Marines.
Major Weinstein holds a B.A. in Political Studies from Bard College, a master’s in Technology Management from Georgetown University, and a master's in Defense and Strategic Studies from the United States Naval War College.
Major Weinstein's awards include a Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal and a Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal.
