1st Sgt. Sink is a native of Kettering, Ohio. He was raised in Tampa, Florida from the age of 5 and lived there until he was 20 years of age when he enlisted in the United States Marine Corps on December 2nd, 2002. He graduated from recruit training at MCRD Parris Island, South Carolina on February 28th, 2003. Upon graduation PFC Sink attended the School of Infantry East, Marine Combat Training. After completion of Marine Combat Training he was ordered to Naval Aviation Technical Training Center, Pensacola, Florida to become an Aviation Life Support Systems Technician. Upon completion of his training he was meritoriously promoted to the rank of Lance Corporal in June of 2003 and assigned to Marine Tactical Electronic Warfare Squadron 3 (VMAQ-3), Cherry Point, North Carolina.
In January of 2004 Lance Corporal Sink was temporarily assigned duties to VMAQ-4 and deployed to Iwakuni, Japan on a UDP. During the deployment Lance Corporal Sink participated in Operation Cope Tiger in Korat, Thailand and a detachment in Okinawa, Japan and Guam. Upon the completion of the deployment he was reassigned to VMAQ-3. In May of 2004 he was meritoriously promoted to the rank of Corporal.
In July and November of 2004 Corporal Sink participated in training exercises, Weapons and Tactics Instruction 4-04 and 1-05, MCAS Yuma, Arizona in preparation for a seven month deployment to Bagram, Afghanistan in January of 2005 in support of Operation Enduring Freedom. Upon returning from Afghanistan he was promoted to the rank of Sergeant in September of 2005.
In June of 2006 Sgt. Sink participated in training exercise, 4-06, Weapons and Tactics Instruction, MCAS Yuma, Arizona and follow on training at Ellis Air Force Base Las Vegas, Nevada, Tonopah Range in preparation for a six month deployment to Al Asad, Iraq in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom in August of 2006. After returning from Iraq in May of 2007 Sgt. Sink participated in Operation Red Flag at Elmendorf Air Force Base in Anchorage, Alaska.
In October of 2007 Sgt. Sink was assigned to attend Drill Instructor School at Parris Island, South Carolina. After completion of Drill Instructor School he was assigned to attend Marine Combat Instructor of Water Survival School where he completed his training as the honor graduate. After completion of his training he was assigned to Golf Co. 2nd RTBN, where he served as a Drill Instructor and Senior Drill Instructor. In February of 2009 Sgt. Sink was promoted to the rank of Staff Sergeant. Staff Sergeant Sink was reassigned in August of 2010 to 2nd Recruit Training Battalion, Headquarters Company as the Battalion Operations Chief where he finished his tour in January 2011.
Staff Sergeant Sink was assigned to the Fighting Bengals, Marine All-Weather Fighter Attack Squadron, VMFA (AW) 224 in January 2011 where he served as the Flight Equipment SNCOIC, ALSS Program Manager, and Uniformed Victim Advocate. With the Bengals, Staff Sergeant Sink successfully completed two deployments to the Western Pacific as part of the unit deployment program. He has also participated as a member of the Bengals in several detachments to NAF El Centro and Tyndall AFB in support of the maintenance effort.
In April of 2015 Staff Sergeant Sink reported to the Naval Reserve Officers Training Corps Unit aboard the University of Nebraska-Lincoln where he served as the Assistant Marine Officer Instructor and completed several cycles as a Sergeant Instructor at Officer Candidates School. He was promoted to the rank of Gunnery Sergeant in August of 2015. After successful completion of AMOI duty in May of 2018 Gunnery Sergeant Sink was ordered to Marine Medium Tiltrotor Squadron 365 (VMM-365) aboard MCAS New River, North Carolina. With VMM-365, he embarked aboard the USS Iwo Jima as part of NATO Exercise Trident Juncture 2018.
Upon selection to First Sergeant he was ordered to 1st Battalion, 6th Marine Regiment aboard Marine Corps Base Camp Lejeune where he served as the Company First Sergeant for Alpha Company and Headquarters and Service Company. He was then ordered to Inspector-Instructor duty with Site Support Tampa, Florida where he currently executes his duties as the Inspector-Instructor First Sergeant for Company D, 4th Assault Amphibian Battalion.
His personal awards include the Navy Commendation Medal with 3 gold stars, the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal with 2 gold stars, the Marine Corps Good Conduct Medal with 5 stars, and the Marine Corps Drill Instructor ribbon, as well as various other unit and service awards.
