Biography

 

Captain Zachary P. Henry
Inspector-Instructor
Detachment Communications Company, 14th Marine Regiment, 4th Marine Division

Captain Henry attended Officer Candidate School on June 3rd, 2017 at Marine Corps Base Quantico. He graduated after 10 weeks on August 12th, 2017 and commissioned as a Second Lieutenant. From there, he went on Permissive Temporary Additional Duty to his Officer Selection Office recruiting station in Chicago until September. Second Lieutenant Henry reported to The Basic School in October and conducted training with Alpha Company. He graduated from The Basic School April 18th, 2018, where he received the Mission Occupational Specialty designation 0602, Communications Officer. Second Lieutenant Henry reported to Marine Corps Communications Electronics School, Twenty Nine Palms, CA where he started Basic Communications Officer Course in June and graduated in December.
 
Second Lieutenant Henry reported to Marine Wing Communications Squadron 18 (MWCS-18), in January, 2019 and was immediately assigned the billet of S-3 Training Officer in Charge (OIC). He worked as the OIC there for eight months and was promoted to First Lieutenant in August. In October, he was assigned as the Data Platoon Commander for Detachment Alpha. First Lieutenant Henry served as the platoon commander for seven months before being sent Temporary Additional Duty (TAD) in June of 2020 to the 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit to work as the Air Combat Element S-6 OIC with Marine Air Control Group 18 Detachment. There, First Lieutenant Henry deployed twice in support of the 20.2 and 21.1 patrols, where he was awarded a Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal. In May, he returned from the 31st MEU to MWCS-18 and conducted a Permanent Change of Station to Indianapolis, Indiana, serving as the Inspector Instructor for Detachment Communications Company, 14th Marine Regiment, 4th Marine Division.
 
First Lieutenant Henry reported to Detachment Communications Company in June of 2021 where he oversees all the Military Funeral Honors, the Toys For Tots program, and manages the Home Training Center for the Selected Marine Corps Reserve Marines that drilled in the area. First Lieutenant Henry was promoted to Captain in September 2022 during his current billet.
 
Captain Henry has a BA in History and Spanish from Aurora University in Aurora Illinois. He is also currently working towards his MBA at the Krannert School of Business at Purdue University. He was awarded a Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal from his time on the 31st MEU.
