Sergeant Major Wilfredo Alas
Command Senior Enlisted Leader

Sergeant Major Wilfredo Alas enlisted in the Marine Corps in November 1997, and reported to Marine Corps Recruiting Depot Parris Island, South Carolina on December 1997.  Upon graduation from Kilo Company, 3rd Battalion, Private Alas was promoted to Private First Class.  PFC Alas attended Marine Combat Training, at Camp Geiger, North Carolina. Upon completion of Marine Combat Training, he attended to Fort Leonard Wood Missouri for Heavy Equipment Mechanic School.  PFC Alas graduate from school, he received Primary Military Occupation Specialty (MOS) of 1341, Heavy Equipment Mechanic.

In May 23rd 1998, PFC Alas reported to 4th Combat Engineer Battalion (CEB), Engineer Support, 1st Platoon in Baltimore MD.  PFC Alas was assign as a Heavy Equipment shop mechanic during the first two years at 4th CEB Baltimore. 

PFC Alas held different billets during this time, such as the tools Non-Commissioner Officer, Leyette NCO, Quality NCO.  PFC Alas became a fire team leader and in a short period of time became a squad leader with 12 Marines under his charge.

PFC Alas continue to work as a mechanic and squad leader during his first years in Baltimore Maryland. During this time, he completed all the required training and Professional Military Education (PME) to be eligible to the rank of Corporal. During the period of 1999 to 2003, PFC Alas conducted multiple construction projects in Quantico, VA. He also completed the Mount Warfare training package at Bridgeport, CA.

In February 2004 Corporal Alas was deployed with 4th CEB Baltimore to Kirkush, Iraq with Join Task Force (JTF) as a Heavy Equipment Mechanic and operator. Corporal Alas main duties was to fortify the current security around the Forward Operation Base (FOB). He also assisted the Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) to dispose of all the ammunition catches found within the area. 

In 2006, Sergeant Alas deploy with 4th CEB, Company C to Al-Asad, Iraq.  His billet was a Heavy Equipment mechanic in the maintenance shop. He moved trough different billets to include acting company Gunny and maintenance chief. He work with the route clearance team to ensure all road were safe for Motor Transport to conduct supplies refilling for Alqaim and Haditha in the Ambar Provence.  During his deployment he was promoted to Staff Sergeant in al-Alasad, Iraq. He conducted construction operation with a team of engineers in the city of Hitt. He assisted in the construction of half of mile of berm around the city to allow the Army, Cotton Bailer, in conjunction with the Iraqi Army to conduct clearing operation within the city. He also assisted in building Control Operations Points inside the city for the Iraqi police to maintain good order to included fortifying current police post.

Staff Sergeant Alas came back to 4th CEB Baltimore as maintenance Chief for Heavy Equipment Platoon.  In 2008 he was assigned the billet of Company Gunnery Sergeant for Engineer Support Company. 

In 2013, Gunnery Sergeant Alas deployed with Special purpose Marine Air Ground Force 13.3 to Uganda Africa. He received training for VIP security and concealed weapons in Tennessee.  He was assigned the billet of Logistic Officer for SOCAFWD-CA in Entebbe, Uganda with the 5th Special Forces Group. GySgt Alas operated throughout Uganda, South Sudan, and Democratic Republic of Congo.  In 2014 Gunnery Sergeant Alas came back to 4th CEB Baltimore to be reassign as Company Gunny. 

In 2015, Gunnery Sergeant Alas was promoted to First Sergeant and was assigned to 6th Engineer Support Battalion, Bulk Fuel, Bravo Company in Wilmington, Delaware. 

First Sergeant Alas was assigned to 2/25 Echo Company in Pennsylvania in May 2018 for duty as Company First Sergeant.  Prior to finishing his tour he assign to 1/25 Headquarters and Service Company to fill the First Sergeant billet.

In June 2019, First Sergeant Alas reported to Headquarters and Service Company 1/25 for duty as the Company First Sergeant.  The Battalion was mobilized for Unit Deployment Program 20.1 West.  During this time he participated and assisted other companies in Bilateral Exercise such as Fuji Viper, Forest light, and Northern Viper within the Indo-Pacific Command area of operations.  He returned home in June 2020.

Sergeant Major Alas was promoted and assumed his current post as Sergeant Major of HMLA-773, MAG-49, 4th Marine Air Wing in July 2020.

Sergeant Major Alas works for the Department of Energy (DOE), Insider Threat Program Management Office (ITPMO).  He holds a Bachelors degree of Organizational Management, from Ashford University.  His personal awards include the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal with a star and Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal
