First Sergeant William J. McMonigle
Unit Senior Enlisted Leader
ALPHA COMPANY, 1ST BATTALION, 25TH MARINES

First Sergeant McMonigle is a native of New York and enlisted in the Marine Corps via the Delayed Entry Program in July 2002.  In October 2003, he completed recruit training at Marine Corps Recruit Depot, Parris Island and attended the School of Infantry East - Infantry Training Battalion at Camp Geiger, NC.  Upon successful completion of SOI, First Sergeant McMonigle was awarded the Infantry Rifleman (0311) MOS.  He then graduated from the Marine Corps Security Forces Training Company in Chesapeake, VA and was awarded the Security Forces Guard (8152) MOS.
 
First Sergeant McMonigle has served in both the active and reserve components for the past 21 years.  His active duty assignments include both operational and supporting establishments.  From 2004 through 2006, First Sergeant McMonigle served at Marine Barracks Washington, DC (8th & I) and at the Presidential Retreat, Camp David as a member of the guard force.  First Sergeant McMonigle served in the Fleet Marine Force in 2006 through 2007 with Battalion Landing Team 2/2, 26th MEU(SOC) deploying in support of OIF 6 and in 2008 through 2010 with 1st Battalion 8th Marines in support of OIF 9.1. 
 
His supporting establishment assignments include serving as a PSEP, Recruiter Aide at RS Albany, NY and as a member of the Warfighting Faculty at The Basic School, Quantico, VA where he held the billets of Basic Officer Course (BOC Golf Company 7-11) Company Tactical Advisor, the Senior Enlisted Instructor for the Combat Instructor Company and as the Warfighting Department's Instructor Education/Certification Program SNCOIC.  
 
In 2013, following the completion of his assignment at The Basic School, First Sergeant McMonigle transferred to the reserves via the Direct Affiliation Program.  He has remained a reservist since.  His assignments include the Company Forward Observer/Scout Leader for Company B, 4th LAR; Future Operations & AT/FP SNCO, H&S Company, CLB 25; as a Platoon Sergeant and a Platoon Commander for Company F, 2d Bn 25th Marines and as the Operations & Fires Chief for Weapons Company, 2d Bn 25th Marines.  First Sergeant McMonigle was frocked to his current rank on June 24, 2023 and assumed his current assignment as the Unit Senior Enlisted Leader, Company A, 1st Bn 25th Marines.
 
First Sergeant McMonigle is a graduate of Survival, Evasion, Resistance & Escape (SERE Level C); the Advanced Infantry Squad Leader's & Advanced Infantryman's Courses; Deployed Medical Operators Course; the SNCO Career & Advance School Distance Education Programs; the Basic & Senior Level Instructors Courses; the Suicide Awareness & Crisis Management Course; the SNCO Advanced School Seminar Program; Fire Support Coordinators Course; First Sergeant's School & E8 1stSgt/MSgt Seminar - Marine Corps University.  First Sergeant McMonigle holds an Associate of Arts degree from the American Military University and has continued his education by studying Intelligence at the American Military University and Social Sciences (Sociology/Psychology/Social Work) at the Ramapo College of New Jersey.  He maintains a professional license as a Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE), accredited by the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners.
 
First Sergeant McMonigle's personal awards include the Presidential Service Badge & Certificate; the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal; the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal with one gold star; Marine Corps Good Conduct Medal with one bronze star and the Outstanding Military Volunteer Service Medal.
 
In his civilian career, First Sergeant McMonigle is a sworn Detective with a Prosecutor's Office in New Jersey.  He is assigned to the Trial Section;  is a Field Training Officer (FTO) and Police Academy Instructor.  First Sergeant McMonigle is also assigned to a Rapid Deployment Team as a uniformed counter-terrorism operator, weapons & tactics instructor, CBRN personal RAD detection operator, and communications officer.
