First Sergeant Alexander J. Grandprey
Unit Senior Enlisted Leader
COMPANY B, 1ST BATTALION, 25TH MARINES

First Sergeant Grandprey is a native of Beaver Dam, Wisconsin. First Sergeant Grandprey enlisted in the delayed entry program June 2004 and graduated from Beaver Dam High School in 2005. Upon graduation, he attended boot camp at Marine Corps Recruit Depot San Diego, CA June 2005. Private First Class Grandprey reported to Infantry Training Battalion, School of Infantry-West where he completed the training regimen for the 0311 occupationl specialty. Immediately after he reported to Light Armored Vehicle Training Company and upon graduation was designated as an 0313 Light Armored Vehicle (LAV) Crewmen.

In February 2006, Private First Class Grandprey checked in to Delta Company, 2nd Light Armored Reconnaissance Battalion (LAR BN) Camp Lejeune, NC where he was promoted to Lance Corporal. Lance Corporal Grandprey deployed in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom Sept 2006-April 2007. He achieved the rank of Corporal and attended the resident Corporals Course. Corporal Grandprey deployed to Iraq a second time from March 2008 – October 2008 where he was combat meritoriously promoted to the rank of Sergeant.
Sergeant Grandprey transferred to Bravo Company 2nd LAR BN in Nov 2008 as an LAV section leader. He attended Light Armored Reconnaissance Vehicle Commander Course where he earned honor graduate distinction. He was then attached to Battalion Landing Team 1/9 (BLT 1/9), 24th Marine Expeditionary Unit. During this time he participated in Operation Unified Response in Haiti and the training of Jordanian Task Force 222C. Following that deployment, he detached BLT 1/9 and returned to Bravo Company 2nd LAR BN.

In December 2010 Sergeant Grandprey graduated from Light Armored Reconnaissance Master Gunner course and assumed that role at Bravo Company, 2nd LAR. Sergeant Grandprey deployed to Afghanistan in support of Operation Enduring Freedom May 2011 – November 2011. Upon return he transferred to Headquarters and Support Company as a member of the Gunnery Cell.
In September 2012 he was promoted to the rank of Staff Sergeant and executed orders to Charlie Company, 4th LAR BN Salt Lake City, UT to assume the role of Training Chief/Master Gunner. In September 2014 Staff Sergeant Grandprey ended his active duty service and transferred to the Select Marine Corps Reserve at the same station as a Platoon Sergeant. In November 2016 he received a promotion to Gunnery Sergeant and MOS change to 0363 LAV unit leader. May 2017 Gunnery Sergeant Grandprey executed an inter-unit transfer to Bravo Company 4th LAR Bn Frederick, MD where he has held the positions of Platoon Sergeant, Platoon Commander, and Company First Sergeant.

July of 2020, First Sergeant Grandprey was frocked and assumed the role of Company First Sergeant, Transportation Services Company, Combat Logistics Battalion 25 where he served until July 2023. He then Transferred to Company B, 1/25 where he continues to serve.

1stSgt Grandprey's personal decorations include the Navy Commendation Medal, Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal, Combat Action Ribbon, and Humanitarian Service Medal.

1stSgt Grandprey is currently employed as a Restoration supervisor in Manchester.
