Kyle King is a native of Canton, Ohio.
He enlisted in the Marine Corps in December 2003 from Alliance, Ohio and on 2 August 2004 attended Recruit Training Battalion, Marine Corps Recruit Depot, Parris Island, South Carolina.
After attending Marine Combat Training East in November 2004, Private First Class King reported for duty at Marine Corps Detachment Aberdeen Proving Grounds, Maryland for Small Arms Repair School. He graduated in February 2005 as a 2111 Small Arms Repair Technician and received orders to Marine Air Group 36 Okinawa, Japan.
In March 2005 Private First Class King reported to Marine Air Group 36 Headquarters Camp Futenma, Okinawa Japan. He was promoted to Lance Corporal 1 Oct 2005. While there he served as the Marine Medium Helicopter Squadron 262 Armorer on the 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit during Cobra Gold, in Operation Foal Eagle, and during deployment to Iraq in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom.
After completing deployment he received orders to 1st Marine Special Operations Battalion Camp Pendleton, California. Lance Corporal King reported to Marine Special Operations Battalion Camp Pendleton, California in May 2007, to serve as the Headquarters Company Armorer. While there he served as Platoon Armorer for multiple platoon's during the build up of Companies Bravo, Charlie, and Delta.
He was promoted to Corporal on 1 July 2007 and received orders to Marine Corps Security Forces Battalion, Norfolk, Virgina.
In June 2008 Corporal King reported for duty with Second Fleet Antiterrorism Team Company, Yorktown, Virginia and served as Platoon Armorer for 1st Platoon. While there he deployed to Rota, Spain and supported the platoon during forward deployment to Israel and in support of Exercise Noble Shirley.
He was promoted to Sergeant on 1 January 2009 and upon return from his deployment he assumed the billet as Bravo Company Armory Chief. He attended Sergeants Course 2-10 and volunteered for deployment to Yokosuka, Japan in support of 5th Platoon and the Commanding General's Readiness Inspection Team.
Upon return from deployment, Sergeant King volunteered for Recruiting Duty. Sergeant King attended the Basic Recruiter Course in August 2011 and received orders to Marine Corps Recruiting Station Harrisburg, Pennsylvania where he served as a canvassing recruiter in Recruiting Sub Station Lancaster from December 2011 to August 2012, during which he earned "Rookie of the year". He was reassigned to Permanent Contact Station Ephrata where he earned "Recruiter of the Year".
He was meritoriously promoted to Staff Sergeant on 2 July 2014 and ended his active service on 13 Aug 2014 and entered the Individual Ready Reserve.
In October 2014, Staff Sergeant King entered the Selective Marine Corps Reserve and was assigned to Headquarters & Service Company, 3rd Battalion, 25th Marines Cleveland, Ohio where he served as Battalion Armory Chief. He participated in training exercises with the Danish Home Guard in Operation Artic Eagle at Camp Greyling, Michigan and Operation Nordic Frost at Ethan Allen Air National Guard Base, Vermont. He attended Career Course 1-17 and assumed the billet of Company Gunnery Sergeant. He completed Ground Ordnance Managers Course 2-19 and in July 2019 Staff Sergeant King transferred to Marine Air Control Squadron 24 Virginia Beach, Virginia.
Staff Sergeant King served as Infantry Weapons Chief for Marine Air Control Squadron 24 in Virginia Beach, Virginia. He was promoted to Gunnery Sergeant on 1 Sept 2019, attended Advanced Course 2-20, and in Jan 2022 assumed the billet of Headquarters Detachment Staff Noncommissioned Officer in Charge.
Gunnery Sergeant King was frocked to his current rank on 20 July 2023 and transferred to Company C, 1st Battalion, 25th Marines in Buffalo, New York. First Sergeant King currently serves as the Reserve Unit Senior Enlisted Leader for Company C, 1st Battalion, 25th Marines in Buffalo, New York.
First Sergeant King's personal awards include the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (1 gold star in lieu of second award), Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (3 gold stars in lieu of fourth award), Army Achievement Medal, and the Marine Corps Recruiting Ribbon.
