Major Steven R. Pickett
Inspector-Instructor, Weapons Company, 1st Battalion, 24th Marines

Major Steven R. Pickett is a native of Detroit, Michigan.  Attending Officer Candidate's School in July 2010, he graduated from Eastern Michigan University in Spring 2011, commissioning through the University of Michigan's Naval Reserve Officer Training Corps program on 29 April 2011.  Second Lieutenant Pickett reported to The Basic School in May for assignment to Company E where he received the MOS 0302 before reporting to Infantry Officer's Course 2-12 in January.

In April 2012, Second Lieutenant Pickett reported to 2d Battalion, 2d Marine Regiment, 2d Marine Division Camp Lejeune, North Carolina.  He served as a Platoon Commander with Company F until March 2013, when he was assigned to Weapons Company to serve as the Assistant Military-to-Military Coordinator during the battalion's deployment as Black Sea Rotational Force (BSRF)-13 to Permanent Forward Operating Station (PFOS) Mihail Kogaliceanu (MK), Romania.  In April 2013, he was promoted to First Lieutenant.

In October 2013, First Lieutenant Pickett was assigned to Company G, were he served as Platoon Commander.  Attending Winter Mountain Leader's Course 2-14, he deployed for training in support of Exercise Cold Response-14, Norway, in March 2014, conducting cold weather operations alongside Norwegian and Dutch elements.  In August 2014, First Lieutenant Pickett deployed as part of Special Purpose Marine Air Ground Task Force-Crisis Response/BSRF 14.2A, again to PFOS MK, Romania.  With the battalion's efforts split, he acted as the Prepare To Deploy on Order action officer, ensuring the units readiness to deploy in support of contingency operations.

In May 2015, First Lieutenant Pickett reported to Second Recruit Training Battalion, Marine Corps Recruit Depot, Parris Island, South Carolina and assumed responsibilities as Series Commander, Company H.  In July 2015, he was promoted to the rank of Captain. Captain Pickett served for seven consecutive training cycles as a Series Commander and Company Executive Officer in Companies H, G, and F.  In July 2017 he was assigned as Battalion Operations Officer/Headquarters Company Commander and in February 2018, assumed responsibilities as the Battalion Executive Officer.

In August 2018, Captain Pickett reported to 2d Battalion, 8th Marine Regiment, 2d Marine Division, Camp Lejeune, North Carolina.  Assigned as the Assistant Operations Officer, he served as the Destructive Weather Officer through Hurricane Florence and the lead Future Operations planner as the battalion prepared to support Weapons and Tactics Instructor Course/TALON Exercise 2-19 and Change of Operational Posture to the 26 Marine Expeditionary Unit.  Concurrently, he attended the Expeditionary Warfare School's Blended Seminar Program, graduating in May 2019.  In July 2019, he assumed command of Headquarters and Service Company before a dynamic deployment to the 5th and 6th Fleet Areas of Operation.  While forward, he again served as the lead Future Operations planner, facilitating Marine Air Ground Task Force training in Kuwait and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

In September 2020, he assumed his current billet as Inspector-Instructor, Weapons Company, 1st Battalion, 24th Marines, 25th Marine Regiment, 4th Marine Division in Perrysburg, Ohio.  On 1 January 2021 he was promoted to his current rank.

Major Pickett holds a Bachelor of Science degree in History from Eastern Michigan University.  His personal awards include the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (with gold star in lieu of second award) and the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal.
