Biography

 

Sergeant Major Jason Bryan Moody

3d Battalion 25th Marine Regiment

Sergeant Major Moody is a native of Louisville, KY. After completing high school, he completed recruit training at Marine Corps Recruit Depot Parris Island, SC in June 1996. Sergeant Major Moody then reported to MP CO A, 4th LE BN, Lexington KY to start his required drills. 

The following year in 1997 he attended Military Police School at Ft. McClellan, Anniston, AL, and holds the MOS of 5811 military police.

Since checking in at MP CO A, LCpl. Moody has served on many different operations over the globe. Those operations include Iraqi Freedom, Humanitarian Missions to Nicaragua, non-lethal weapons training in Antigua, Jamaica, coalition missions in South Korea, Greece, Jordan, and a Martine Pre Positioning operation in Estonia.  

In 2003 Cpl. Moody was activated during the initial invasion of Iraq. As a Cpl, he led a fire team and later a squad on over 100 convoy security missions, providing security for coalition forces coming into the country, and security for supplies. He also helped lead his squad to process over 300 Iraqi Enemy Prisoners of War. 

Sergeant Moody returned to Iraq in 2008 and again led his squad to over 50 mounted and dismounted patrols. He supervised over 1260 of combat outpost security, and 840 hours of biometric automated toolset security. BATS security was an essential mission under Operation Silver Raven. This operation allowed a means of identification for potential insurgents crossing the border of Syria and Iraq. 

In 2009 Staff Sergeant Major Moody attended the reserve career retention specialist school where he was the honor grade.

From 2009 to 2013 Staff Sergeant  Moody was the operations Chief for MP CO A and was awarded the Navy Achievement Medal for outstanding performance in this billet.

From 2014 to 2016 Gunnery Sergeant Moody served as the CO GySgt at MP CO A and later served as the acting 1stSgt. He then transferred to MP CO B in Pittsburgh, PA to serve as the acting 1stSgt at Bravo CO from December 2017 to April 2018. 

From April 2018 to May 2021 First Sergeant served as the  1stSgt. at Comm CO, 14th Marine Regiment, 4th Marine Division in Cincinnati, OH

From May 2021 to May 2023 First Sergeant Moody served at Bravo CO 1/23, Bossier City, LA. He recently returned from being activated with Bravo Company in Support of Operating Allies Welcome, helping Afghanistan evacuees with their process of finding a new home in the United States. 

In May 2023 Sergeant Major Moody was promoted to Sergeant Major and is currently serving at 3rd BN 25th Marine Regiment out of Brook Park, OH. 

He holds a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Louisville. 

His personal awards include Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal, Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal, Combat Action Ribbon, and the Select Marine Corps Reserve Medal.
