First Sergeant Kendall D. Johnson

H&S CO., 1ST BATTALION, 25TH MARINE REGIMENT

First Sergeant Johnson, enlisted into the U.S. Marine Corps on 5 September 2005 and graduated MCRD Parris Island on December 21, 2005.  Upon graduation, he reported to SOI Camp Geiger, NC for Combat Training.  He departed SOI in February 2006 and reported to his MOS school aboard Fort Lee, VA; Army Base, for Food Service Specialist Course. Upon successful completion of the Food Service Specialist Course, he reported to 1st MLG, CLR-17 Marine Corps Base Camp Pendleton, California for duty in May 2006.  In September 2006 Private First Class (PFC) Johnson would be forward deployed and later augmented to 3rd Battalion 2 Marines out of Forward Operating Base Habbaniyah, Iraq. In March of 2007 Lance Corporal (LCpl) Johnson would return to Camp Pendleton, CA and serve as a cook on watch. In July of 2007, LCpl Johnson was promoted to the rank of Corporal and moved up to the billet of assistant chief cook. February 2008 Cpl Johnson would go forward deployed again with Regimental Combat Team 5 based out of Haditha Dam, Iraq.  There he would continue to serve as the assistant chief cook until his redeployment in September of 2008. In February 2009, Corporal Johnson executed orders to MCAS Iwakuni, Japan where he served as chief cook in the North Side Mess hall. In October 2009 he was promoted the rank of Sergeant (Sgt) and later moved to the billet of Property and Training NCOIC. In February 2011, Sergeant Johnson executed orders to MCAS Beaufort, South Carolina. He was then again assigned the billet of Chief Cook until August of 2011.  In September of 2011 Sergeant Johnson was appointed as the Assistant Squadron Mess Chief for MWSS-273 and would deploy to Camp Leatherneck, Afghanistan in March of 2012. While deployed as the Assistant Squadron Mess Chief Sergeant Johnson would be in charge of the ordering, receiving, and shipping of all Class I items in support of his unit.

In September 2012, Sergeant Johnson returned from Afghanistan and was placed as the platoon sergeant until he would execute orders to Drill Instructor School in April of 2013.  Upon graduation of Drill Instructor school he was assigned to the 2nd Recruit Training Battalion Echo Company.  While on drill instructor duty Sergeant Johnson served as a drill instructor, company operations chief and a senior drill instructor.  In August of 2016 after completing a successful tour Staff Sergeant Johnson would execute orders to HQBN 1st Marine Division, Camp Pendleton CA.

While in Camp Pendleton Staff Sergeant Johnson would serve as the Battalion Mess Chief and Equal Opportunity Representative until December of 2017 where he would later get temporarily assigned to the 5th Marine Regiment in support of Special Purpose Marine Air Ground Task Force (SPMAGTF) 18.2 as the Company Gunnery Sergeant and Food Service Chief for the Command Element. In December of 2018 he would redeploy and go back to HQBN until June 2019.  July 2019 Staff Sergeant Johnson would execute orders to the Basic Food Service School house and would later get promoted to the rank of Gunnery Sergeant. While at the Basic Food Service School House he would serve as Marine Awaiting Training Platoon Sergeant, Mess Hall Assistant Liaison, Inter-service Training Review Organization Instructor, Alpha Company First Sergeant and Headquarters Company First Sergeant.  Gunnery Sergeant Johnson executed orders to Camp Mujuk, Republic of Korea on August 11th 2022 and held the billet of  Mess hall Officer in Charge. April 17th, 2023 GySgt Johnson would be frocked to the rank of First Sergeant and would execute orders to 1st Battalion 25th Marines, 4th Marine Division where is currently serving as the Inspector-Instructor Unit Senior Enlisted Leader.
