Brett M. Crofts is a native of Spokane, WA. First Sergeant Crofts enlisted in the United States Marine Corps and attended recruit training at Marine Corps Recruit Depot San Diego, CA in June 2004. Upon completion of Marine Combat Training Private Crofts attended primary Military Occupational Specialty (MOS) training at Fort Knox, KY.
 
Private First Class Crofts graduated MOS training as class honor graduate, earning a meritorious promotion to Lance Corporal and MOS 2146 Main Battle Tank Repairer. Lance Corporal Crofts was assigned to Company B, 4th Tank Battalion, 4th Marine Division, Yakima, WA.
 
In July of 2007 Lance Corporal Crofts traveled to Shoalwater Bay Training Area, Australia to participate in Operation Talisman Saber. Upon return, Lance Corporal Crofts was meritoriously promoted to Corporal.
 
Corporal Crofts was activated in December of 2008 until January of 2010, and deployed to Al Asad Air Base, Iraq in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom from April to September 2009. Upon returning from Iraq, Corporal Crofts was promoted to Sergeant in April of 2010, and became Headquarters Platoon Sergeant in January of 2011. First Sergeant Crofts received a B.A. degree in Social Sciences from Washington State University in May of 2011.
 
Sergeant Crofts was promoted to Staff Sergeant in December 2013 and Gunnery Sergeant in January 2017. Gunnery Sergeant Crofts traveled to Finland and Norway in May of 2018 to take part in Joint Exercise Arrow as a Tank Maintenance Chief.
 
In August of 2018, Gunnery Sergeant Crofts was transferred to Battalion Staff, 4th Tank Battalion, 4th Marine Division, San Diego, CA. as Battalion Tank Maintenance Chief. Gunnery Sergeant Crofts traveled to Marine Corps Prepositioning Program- Norway sites in June of 2019 to assist Combat Logistics Battalion 451 during Personnel Temporary Augmentee Program 2019 as Tank Maintenance Chief.
 
First Sergeant Crofts was selected for the rank of First Sergeant in March of 2020 and assigned to Battery P, 5th Battalion, 14th Marine Regiment, Spokane, WA as the Senior Enlisted Advisor. In June of 2023, First Sergeant Crofts was assigned to Headquarters Company, 23rd Marine Regiment, San Bruno, CA as the Senior Enlisted Advisor.
 
First Sergeant Crofts' personal awards include: the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal.
