First Sergeant Perez-Valdivia is a native of Miami, Florida. He enlisted in the Marine Corps in May 2005 and attended Boot camp at Parris Island, South Carolina where he earned the title of "Marine". He went on to Marine Combat Training, School of Infantry-East and then to Marine Artillery Scout Observer Course at Fort Sill, Oklahoma, followed by Fire Support Man School at Coronado, California. There, he received the Military Occupational Specialty of Fire Support man/ Forward Observer.
His initial assignment was with 4th Air Naval Gunfire Liaison Company in West Palm Beach, Florida from 2006 to 2008. From 2008 to 2009, he deployed with Detachment Golf, who augmented 5th ANGLICO in Okinawa and later in Operation Iraqi Freedom. In March of 2009, Corporal Perez-Valdivia returned to 4th ANGLICO. There, he served as a Fire Support Man on a Brigade Platoon until 2011.
In 2011, Sergeant Perez-Valdivia served as a Firepower Control Team Chief and a Joint Fires Observer for Detachment India, who augmented 5th Air Naval Gunfire Liaison Company in Okinawa, Japan and deployed to Afghanistan in support of Operation Enduring Freedom from 2011 to 2012. He returned to 4th Air Naval Gunfire Liaison Company in 2012.
Sergeant Perez-Valdivia served as 1st Brigade Platoon Sergeant at 4th Air Naval Gunfire Liaison Company upon his return to 4th Air Naval Gunfire Liaison Company. Staff Sergeant Perez-Valdivia attended Career Course in 2016. In 2017 Staff Sergeant Perez-Valdivia attended Tactical Air Control Party School in Little Creek, Virginia, where he earned the title of Joint Terminal Attack Controller. Gunnery Sergeant Perez-Valdivia attended the Advanced School in 2022. From 2017 to 2023, Gunnery Sergeant Perez-Valdivia served as 3rd Brigade Platoon Sergeant.
In July of 2023, First Sergeant Perez-Valdivia was frocked to his current position. In August of 2023, First Sergeant Perez-Valdivia reported to Apollo Company, 1st Battalion, 23D Marine Regiment in Houston, Texas, to serve as the Company's Senior Enlisted Leader.
Throughout his time at 4th Air Naval Gunfire Liaison Company, First Sergeant Perez-Valdivia has participated in numerous named training exercises, both CONUS and OCONUS, to include Joint Warrior (Scotland), Burmese Chase, African Lion (Morocco), Emerald Warrior, Saber Strike (Poland), and ITX. First Sergeant Perez earned a Bachelor's Degree in Criminology from the University of Florida in May of 2013. He has attained certifications as a Firefighter, Emergency Medical Technician, Police Officer, Active Shooter Course Instructor, Firearms Instructor, and several others pertaining to Law Enforcement.
First Sergeant Perez-Valdivia's personal awards include the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal, Combat Action Ribbon, Army Achievement Medal, and various other Service and Deployment medals.
