Biography

 

First Sergeant Justin C. Porter

First Sergeant Porter is native to Wichita Falls, Texas, and graduated high school in 2000. He enlisted in the USMC in 2004 after receiving his Bachelors Degree, and reported to MCRD San Diego in March 2004. Following Graduation from MCRD, Private First Class Porter reported to the School of Infantry-Marine Combat Training, Camp Pendleton CA, in July 2004.
     
Following completion of the School of Infantry-Marine Combat Training Pfc Porter reported to Telecommunications School, earning the MOS of 0621 Field Radio Operator. During this period, Pfc Porter was awarded two Meritorious Mast. After completion of the Telecommunications School, in October 2004 PFC Porter reported to 2nd Bn 14th Marines in Grand Prairie, Texas and was assigned as a Field Radio Supervisor. He served in this role throughout their deployment readiness cycles until 2008.
    
In 2004 Pfc Porter deployed to Fallujah, Iraq, serving as Infantry Radio Operator, and was promoted to LCpl serving as a trouble shooting expert liaison with the Army. During this period, LCpl Porter was received, the Iraqi Campaign Medal and other unit commendations. In 2006, Cpl Porter served in Iraq, training the local Iraqi Police in arrest, search and seizure tactics. He served as the Communications Chief for the Area of  Operations and primarily the Command Operations Center. 
     
In 2008 Sgt Porter served as the Headquarters Field Radio Operator Chief that lead to his unit being the first Marine Corps unit to   establish HIMARS- Artillery with high frequency long distance communication. In 2012, SSgt Porter was assigned to Communications Squadron 48 in Great Lakes, Illinois as the liaison for all the reserve command communication sites for technical assistance and proficiency to establish better lines of communications for CONUS and OCONUS Operations.

Following  his tenure at Communications Squadron 48, SSgt Porter was assigned to 14th Marine Regiment in Fort Worth, Texas were he would later become the Assistant Communications Chief for the Division. In 2015, SSgt Porter was promoted to the rank of GySgt and was established as the Operations/Transmissions Chief for Communications. While serving in this capacity GySgt Porter earned  himself more awards.

In 2018 GySgt Porter returned to 2nd Bn 14 Marines as the Communications Chief over four different units geographically displaced amongst four states being accountable for training and operations, deployment cycles, and field evolutions for MOS proficiency deployment readiness. While serving as Communications Chief GySgt Porter was assigned to acting 1stSgt for Headquarters Company. In 2020 GySgt Porter was selected for promotion to 1stSgt.

Following promotion to 1stSgt in 2020, 1stSgt Porter was assigned to Maintenance Company, CLB 453, CLR 4 to assume the duties of a 1stSgt serving and leading over 500 Marines geographically displaced over five different states. He is currently serving in this capacity with H & S Company 1st BN 23rd Marine Division.

His personal decorations of many include Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal and Marine Corps Achievement Medals.
