First Sergeant Cody C. Alt reported to Marine Corps Recruit Depot, San Diego, CA for recruit training on 7 November 2006. Upon completing training at San Diego, he reported to Camp Pendleton, CA in February 2007 for Marine Combat Training.
In March 2007, Private Alt reported to Camp Johnson, NC for training as a 3521, Automotive Maintenance Technician Basic Course. Private Alt was promoted to Private First Class May 2007.
In August 2007, Private First Class Alt reported to MCAS Yuma, AZ for duty with Motor Transport Platoon, Marine Air Control Squadron 1 (MACS-1). He held the billets of Tool Room Non-Commisioned Officer (NCO), Calibrations NCO, Quality Control NCO, Publications NCO Marine Corps Integrated Maintenance Management System (MIMMS) NCO. In January 2008, Private First Class Alt was promoted to the rank of Lance Corporal. Also in January 2008, he deployed with MACS-1 to Al Asad, Iraq in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom, where he served as Motor Transport Mechanic. In October 2008, Lance Corporal Alt was promoted to the rank of Corporal. In 2010 he volunteered to deploy to Afghanistan as an MOS 1141 Electrician. While deployed he was promoted to the rank of Sergeant in November 2010.
In September 2011, Sergeant Alt executed orders to Marine Wing Communications Squadron 18 (MWCS-18) Okinawa, Japan. He held the billets of Hazmat NCO, Platoon Sergeant, Chief Dispatcher and Motor Transport Operations Chief. In 2014, he was selected for recruiting duty. In July 2014, Sergeant Alt reported to Basic Recruiting School aboard Marine Corps Recruit Depot, San Diego, CA.
In September 2014, Sergeant Alt reported to Recruiting PCS Station, Dyersburg, TN. While on recruiting duty he maintained a 1.0 or higher annual percentage rating. In November 2015, he was promoted to the rank of Staff Sergeant and executed PCA orders to Military Entrance Processing Station Memphis, TN.
In December 2017, Staff Sergeant Alt reported to Combat Logistics Company 16 (CLC-16) as the Motor Transport Maintenance Chief. During his time with CLC-16, he has held the billets of UMAPIT 2.0 Instructor, Equal Opportunity Representative, Motorcycle club President, Floor Chief, Motor Transport Maintenance Chief and Maintenance Chief. He also served as the Units primary Range Safety Officer for several live fire exercises. In November 2020 Staff Sergeant Alt was promoted to the Rank of Gunnery Sergeant.
In January 2021, Gunnery Sergeant Alt reported to Combat Logistics Battalion 26 to serve as the Battalion Maintenance Chief. During his time with CLB 26, Gunnery Sergeant Alt deployed with the 22nd Marine Expeditionary Unit as the Detachment Senior Enlisted Leader and Battalion Maintenance Chief.
In July of 2023, Gunnery Sergeant Alt reported to 3rd Battalion, 23d Marine Regiment in Bridgeton, Missouri to serve at the Battalion Inspector Instructor Motor Transport Chief.
In June of 2024 Gunnery Sergeant Alt was promoted to the rank of First Sergeant (frocked) and reported in to India Company, 3rd Battalion, 23d Marine Regiment to serve as the Inspector Instructor Senior Enlisted Leader.
First Sergeant Alt's personal awards include the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (2) and Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (3).
