1st Sgt Sergeant Juan P. Flores
Inspector-Instructor Unit Senior Enlisted Leader
H & S Company

First Sergeant Flores enlisted in the Marine Corps on July 11, 2005. He completed recruit training at Marine Corps Recruit Depot San Diego, California on October 2005. Private First Class Flores attended Marine Combat Training at Camp Pendleton, followed by Communication School at 29 Palms. Upon completion he was assigned the MOS 0621, Radio Operator. 
 
Private First Class Flores reported to 1st Battalion 6th Marines Camp Lejuene, N.C. in February 2006 as a Radio Operator, shortly after he was promoted to Lance Corporal on April 2006. Lance Corporal Flores deployed on September 2006 where he was assigned to Personal Security Detachment (PSD) as Radio Operator for the Battalion Commander and was awarded Combat Action Ribbon. After the deployment Lance Corporal Flores was promoted to Corporal on May 2007. 
 
Corporal Flores was then transferred to 2nd Regiment in August 2008 as a Radio Operator, where he reenlisted and was promoted to Sergeant on July 2009. Once promoted Sergeant Flores was assign as the Assistant Radio Chief and held the billet of platoon Sergeant for S-6 shop. In March 2010 Sergeant Flores was assigned to 1st Battalion 12th Marines Alpha Battery Kaneohe Bay, Hawaii as a Radio Operator. Soon after arriving he was assigned the billet of Assistant Radio Chief. Sergeant Flores attended Infantry Squad Leader Course on August 2010 where he graduated  Squad Leader with honors and was awarded Meritorious Mast. After graduation he was assigned to train the Battery in order to support the Battalion's deployment to Afghanistan on April 2011. During the deployment he became the Radio Chief for one of the Forward Observation Bases. 
 
Once returned from the deployment Sergeant Flores attended Sergeant Course in January 2012. Sergeant Flores volunteered to deploy on a UDP in Okinawa, Japan as his final deployment before heading to recruiting duty. In October 2013 Sgt Flores reported to Recruiting Station Los Angeles to serve as a Canvassing Recruiter for RSS Van Nuys. As a canvassing recruiter he was awarded recruiter of the quarter and Rookie Recruiter of the year 2014. Upon promotion to Staff Sergeant, he volunteered to be SNCOIC of RSS Hollywood. While he was the SNCOIC, his RSS earned RSS of the year 2016 and 2017 for RSLA. In December 2017 after a successful SDA tour SSgt Flores reported to MWSS-373 where he served as Radio Chief, KMI Manager, EO representative and Unit treasurer. Upon his promotion to Gunnery Sergeant, he reported to MWCS-38, Detachment Bravo and served as Transmission Chief. 
 
During April 2020 with MWCS-38, Gunnery Sergeant Flores was hand selected to fill the role of a Communications Chief and Senior Enlisted Advisor in the first ever coalition deployment aboard foreign vessel of the Royal NAVY; HMS QNLZ (Her Majesty Ship Queen Elizabeth), where he served alongside various NATO nations. Due to his actions during this period he was awarded his second Marine Corps Commendation Medal. Upon his return on December 2021 from deployment GySgt Flores  was assigned orders to 1st Marine Regiment, where he served as the Communication Operation Chief. Shortly after his arrival to 1st Marine Regiment GySgt Flores was Selected for promotion to First Sergeant. On February 2023 GySgt Flores was frocked to First Sergeant and assigned order to 2nd Battalion 23rd Marines, where he currently serves as the Inspector Instructor First Sergeant for H & S Company. 
 
His personal decorations include Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal w/ gold star, the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal w/ gold star, Combat Action Ribbon, Good Conduct Medal w/ (5) bronze stars (4) Certificate of Commendation, and (5) Meritorious Mast.
