First Sergeant Josias Bahena
Inspector - Instructor Unit Senior Enlisted Leader

First Sergeant Bahena enlisted in the United States Marine Corps on 21 September 2008. He attended recruit training at Marine Corps Recruit Depot, San Diego California. Private Bahena attended Marine Combat Training (MCT) at Camp Pendleton California. Private First Class Bahena attended MOS school at Twenty-nine Palms, California, for Field Radio Operator Course, Field Radio Operator (0621).

In May of 2009, Private First Class Bahena received orders to 7th Communications Battalion, Okinawa Japan, where he served as a Field Radio Operator. During this time, Private First Class Bahena provided critical communications support during multiple field training exercises around the Pacific Theater. Lance Corporal Bahena was also assigned to Special Operations Training Group (SOTG) to support advanced training and readiness for the 31st Marine Expeditionary Units (MEUs).

In December of 2010 Corporal Bahena received orders to 2D Light Armored Reconnaissance Battalion, Camp Lejeune, North Carolina where he served as a Field Radio Operator and Radio Supervisor. In April of 2011 Corporal Bahena was deployed to Helmand Province, Afghanistan in support of Operation Enduring Freedom. In January of 2014 Sergeant Bahena was deployed as part of Battalion Landing Team 1/6 in support of the 22nd Marine Expeditionary Unit. Sergeant Bahena attended the Martial Arts Instructor's Course graduating as a Brown belt Martial Arts Instructor in October of 2014. Sergeant Bahena also attended Staff Noncommissioned Officer Academy Sergeants Course in Camp Johnson, North Carolina and graduated in March of 2015.

In July of 2015 Sergeant Bahena received orders to Drill Instructor School Class 4-15, Marine Corps Recruit Depot, San Diego, California. On September of 2015, he graduated Drill Instructor school where he was assigned to First Recruit Training Battalion Bravo Company where he served as (4) cycles of Drill Instructor and (3) cycles of a Senior Drill Instructor. In February of 2018 Staff Sergeant Bahena was sent to Support Battalion Special Training Company where he served as a Chief Drill Instructor.

In December of 2018 Staff Sergeant Bahena received orders to 2D Battalion 8th Marines in Camp Lejeune, North Carolina to serve as a Transmissions Chief. In January of 2019 Staff Sergeant Bahena attended Transmissions Chief Course in Twenty-nine Palms, California and graduated in May of 2019. In December of 2019 Staff Sergeant Bahena was deployed as part Battalion Landing Team 2/8 in support of the 26th Marine Expeditionary Unit. In August of 2021 Gunnery Sergeant Bahena was deployed to Camp Schwab Okinawa, Japan in support of Unit Deployment Program 2-21.

In July of 2022 Gunnery Sergeant Bahena received orders to the Staff Non-Commissioned Officer Academy in Camp Lejeune, NC. Gunnery Sergeant Bahena started off as a Faculty Advisor in Sergeant's School. In 2023 Gunnery Sergeant Bahena was selected as the Faculty Advisor of the year from Camp Lejeune, NC. In July of 2023 Gunnery Sergeant Bahena was chosen to serve as the Chief Faculty Advisor at Career School in SNCOA Camp Lejeune, NC. During his time at the SNCOA, Gunnery Sergeant Bahena instructed (7) Sergeant Schools and (7) Career Schools.

In April of 2025 First Sergeant Bahena was frocked to his current rank. In May of 2025 First Sergeant Bahena reported to Inspector & Instructor Staff, Weapons Company, 3d Battalion 23d Marines in Springfield, Missouri where he currently serves as the Unit Senior Enlisted Leader.

First Sergeant Bahena's personal awards include the Navy & Marine Corps Commendation Medal with Gold Star in Lieu of 3rd Award an Associates Degree in General Studies from Columbia College and a Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration from American Military University.
