First Sergeant Sergeant John Navickas is from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He enlisted in the United States Marine Corps and reported to 3rd Battalion, India Company, Marine Corps Recruit Depot Parris Island, South Carolina on July 7, 2008.
Following four weeks Marine Combat Training, Private Navickas reported for instruction at Bulk Fuel Specialist Course in Fort Lee, Virginia in December, 2008. After Graduation in January 2009, he reported for duty with Marine Wing Support Squadron 172 in Okinawa, Japan at Camp Foster.
In October 2010, Lance Corporal Navickas was transferred to Bulk Fuel Company, 7th Engineer Support Battalion at Camp Pendleton, California. As a Bulk Fuel Specialist, he deployed in support of Operation Enduring Freedom from May 2011 to December 2011. He was promoted to the rank of Corporal and Sergeant and served as a fire team, quad leader and a fuel farm NCOIC.
In March 2012, Sergeant Navickas reported to Marine Security Guard School 4-12 at Quantico, Virginia. Upon successful completion of Marine Security Guard School, Sergeant Navickas reported to Marine Security Detachment, United States Embassy, Phnom Penh, Cambodia as a watch stander. He served in the collateral duties of Mess, Ball and MWR NCO.
In July 2013, Sergeant Navickas reported to Marine Security Guard Detachment, United States Embassy, Moscow, Russia as a watch stander and squad leader. He served in the collateral duties of Ball, MWR, and Operations NCO.
In October 2014, Sergeant Navickas reported to Marine Security Guard Detachment, United States Consulate, Dhanran, Saudi Arabia, as the Assistant Detachment Commander.
In August 2015, Sergeant Navickas left active duty and joined the United Sates Marine Corps Reserve utilizing the Direct Affiliation Program. Sergeant Navickas reported to Bulk Fuel B, 6th Engineer Support Battalion, Wilmington, Delaware where he was promoted to the rank of Staff Sergeant and Gunnery Sergeant and held the billets as fire team leader, squad leader, platoon guide, platoon sergeant, platoon commander, and Company Gunnery Sergeant
In January, First Sergeant Navickas was assigned as the Reserve Senior Enlisted Leader at B Company, 4th Combat Engineer Battalion in Roanoke, Virginia.
First Sergeant Navickas' personal awards include the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal and Achievement Medal (Gold Star in lieu of second award).
