First Sergeant Daniel W. Furner
UNIT SENIOR ENLISTED LEADER
Echo Co., 4th Combat Engineer Battalion

1stSgt Furner attended recruit training at MCRD Parris Island in May 2006. After completing Marine Combat Training, he attended the Motor Vehicle Operator's Course at Fort Leanordwood, MO.

PFC Furner reported to Lima Battery, 3rd Battalion, 10th Marine Regiment, Camp Lejeune, NC in November 2006. PFC Furner deployed with the rest of Lima Battery in February 2007 for Operation Iraqi Freedom. PFC Furner was promoted to LCpl in March 2007, while on deployment. 

Upon returning from Iraq in September 2007, LCpl Furner was assigned to HQ Battery, 2nd Battalion, 10th Marine Regiment, where he served as a Motor Vehicle Operator. LCpl Furner was promoted to the rank of Corporal in November 2007. He then attended the Vehicle Recover Course at Fort Leanordwood, MO in December 2007, and was assigned as a Battalion Wrecker Operator upon successful completion of the course.

Corporal Furner was meritoriously promoted to the rank of Sergeant in November 2008, after competing in the 2nd Marine Division meritorious promotion board. Sergeant Furner then deployed as a provisional Civil Affairs NCO with 2/10 CAG, for Operation Iraqi Freedom where he served as his teams security team leader and civil affairs specialist. 

Sergeant Furner transitioned to the SMCR in December 2010, where he was assigned to the 6th Motor Transport Battalion, Orlando, FL as a Wrecker Section Chief. Sergeant Furner augmented from this unit in March 2011 to deploy with the General Support MT Company, 2nd Supply Battalion for Operation Enduring Freedom, where he conducted convoy security. 

After returning from deployment, Sergeant Furner was assigned to MT Company, Combat Logistic battalion 451, Orlando, FL where he resumed his duties as wrecker section chief. Sergeant Furner was promoted to the rank of Staff Sergeant in June 2013 and then deployed again for Operation Enduring Freedom as an attachment with CLB 6, where he served as the regional wrecker section chief, supporting all of RCSW.

After deployment, Staff Sergeant Furner retuned to MT Company, CLB 451 where he continued his duties as a wrecker section chief. Staff Sergeant Furner then deployed as part of the GTT to Krtsanisi, Georgia in March 2017 where he served as a Licensing Coordinator and vehicle operation instructor to the Georgian Army.

After returning from Georgia, Staff Sergeant Furner was deployed for Operation Inherent Resolve in June 2018, where he served as a Team Chief and Logistics Advisor. Staff Sergeant Furner was promoted to Gunnery Sergeant in September 2018 while deployed. 

After returning from deployment, Gunnery Sergeant Furner was assigned to 4th ANGLICO in April 2019, where he served at Company Truckmaster and Company Gunnery Sergeant. In September 2019, Gunnery Sergeant Furner attached to MCSCG, where he served as the ALOC SNCOIC in Hohenfels, Germany. After completion of this assignment, Gunnery Sergeant returned to his regular duties with 4th ANGLICO.

In April 2023, Gunnery Sergeant Furner was FROCKED to the rank of 1stSgt, where he was assigned as the Company 1stSgt for Company E, 4th Combat Engineer Battalion.

1stSgt Furner's personal decorations include the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal, Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal, Combat Action Ribbon with gold star in lieu of second award.
