First Sergeant Irving G. Silva
Inspector - Instructor, Unit Senior Enlisted Leader
4th Reconnaissance Battalion

First Sergeant Silva enlisted in the Marine Corps on 3 December 2007 and attended recruit training on 23 March 2008 at Marine Corps Recruit Depot, San Diego, California. He graduated on 20 June 2008 with Platoon 3227, Kilo Company, 3rd Recruit Training Battalion and attended Marine Combat Training at Camp Pendleton, California. Upon completion of training, he reported to Engineer School Court House Bay, Camp Lejeune, North Carolina for training as a Basic Water Support Technician School (MOS 1171) and graduated 19 November 2008.

Upon graduation from his MOS school, he reported to 8th Engineer Support Battalion where he served as a Water Support Technician for Utilities Platoon, Support Company. He deployed to Marjah, Afghanistan in support of Operation Enduring Freedom with 8th Engineer Support Battalion Forward where he was then attached to 2d Battalion, 6th Marines and 3rd Battalion 9th Marines serving as the Water Site Noncommissioned Officer in Charge from October 2010 to July 2011 at Forward Operating Base Marjah.  

In 2012 he lateral moved to the Career Planner field, serving as a Career Planner for Combat Logistics Company 21, 2d Marine Logistics Group; Marine Aviation Logistics Squadron 14 and  Marine Wing Headquarters Squadron 2, 2d Marine Aircraft Wing; and 3d Marine Regiment, 3d Marine Division.

As a First Sergeant, he has served at Communications Company, 3d Marine Littoral Regiment, and currently serves at Charlie Company, 4th Reconnaissance Battalion.  

First Sergeant Silva's personal decorations and awards includes: Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal w/ three gold stars in lieu of Fourth award, Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal w/ three gold stars In lieu of fourth award.
