First Sergeant Jeremiah L. Hoff is a native of Muskegon, MI, and enlisted into the United States Marine Corps in August 2006. Private First Class Hoff graduated from MCRD San Diego, CA in November of 2006 and was assigned to Infantry Training Battalion-West (ITB-W). Following ITB-W, Private First Class Hoff reported to the Reconnaissance Training Platoon with 1st Reconnaissance Battalion and in April 2007, he attended the Basic Reconnaissance Course at the Naval Amphibious Base Coronado. Upon completion of the course in June of 2007, Lance Corporal Hoff was assigned to 1st Reconnaissance Battalion.
While at 1st Reconnaissance Battalion Corporal Hoff was assigned to Alpha Company where he attended the Basic Airborne Course, and in November of 2008, he deployed on the 13th MEU. Following this deployment, Sergeant Hoff attended the Survival, Evasion, Resistance, and Escape course in February of 2010 and then deployed in support of Operation Enduring Freedom in June of 2010, followed by the 15th MEU in November of 2011. Upon returning, Sergeant Hoff attended the Marine Corps Combatant Diver course in August 2012, the Infantry Unit Leaders course in February 2013, and the Marine Corps Combat Instructor Course (CIS) in May 2013. After completing CIS Staff Sergeant Hoff reported to the Reconnaissance Training Company, Advanced Infantry Training Battalion, School of Infantry West (SOI-W).
During his tour of duty as an instructor with the Basic Reconnaissance Course Staff Sergeant Hoff fulfilled billets of Tactical Instructor, Primary Patrol Phase
Instructor, and Patrol Phase Course Chief. He also attended the Multi-Mission Parachute course in May 2014 and the Staff Non-Commissioned Officer Career Course in March 2015.
In August 2016 Staff Sergeant Hoff reported to 2d Reconnaissance Battalion, Force Reconnaissance Company where he was assigned as Platoon Sergeant until January 2019 when then Gunnery Sergeant Hoff, was assigned as Platoon Sergeant with Alpha Company, 2d Reconnaissance Battalion in support of the 24th MEU deployment in February 2021.
Upon returning from the 24th MEU Gunnery Sergeant Hoff as assigned to II Expeditionary Operations Training Group (EOTG), II MEF. His billets at EOTG
included Close Quarters Tactics (CQT) and Visit Board Search and Seizure (VBSS) instructor followed by CQT and VBSS Course Chief.
Gunnery Sergeant Hoff was frocked to First Sergeant on 18 Jan 2024 and officially promoted on 1 April 2024. He has since been assigned to his current billet as
Inspector-Instructor First Sergeant, Maintenance Co. (-) CLB-451 in January 2024.
First Sergeant Hoff's personal awards include the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal, Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal with Combat
Distinguishing Device (2nd award), Combat Action Ribbon, Good Conduct Medal (4th award), and the Navy and Marine Corps Association Leadership Award.
