Dana M. Wehrman is a native of Royal Oak, Michigan. He embarked on his journey with the United States Marine Corps on August 20, 2002, when he left for recruit training. He graduated with his originally assigned platoon, Platoon 2101, H Co.
After completing boot camp, PFC Wehrman attended combat training and subsequently went on to his Military Occupational Specialty (MOS) schools. In September 2003, he completed his first MOS school in Pensacola, Florida, followed by a second school at Coronado Island, San Diego, California. Upon completion of his training, PFC Wehrman was assigned to the Marine Aviation Logistics Squadron 14 (MALS-14), Marine Air Group 14 (MAG-14), at Marine Corps Air Station (MCAS) Cherry Point, North Carolina. There, he served as a Ground Support Equipment mechanic and electrician, working with aviation support equipment.
In 2005, he transferred to VMA-223, where he took on the role of the Support Equipment Representative for the Harrier Squadron. During his time at MCAS Cherry Point, Cpl Wehrman deployed with Marine Helicopter Medium Squadron 263 (HMM-263) aboard the USS Nassau (LHA-4) as part of the 22nd Marine Expeditionary Unit (MEU).
In August 2007, Wehrman transitioned briefly to the Individual Ready Reserve (IRR), before rejoining the Marines as a Reservist with the Marine Aircraft Group 47 (MAG-47). He attended Basic Military Police Academy. Shortly after promotion to Sgt, Wehrman was deployed with 1st Maintenance Battalion as a security Team Leader, honing his leadership and operational skills. Upon his return, he was attached to Military Police Company C, 4th Law Enforcement Battalion (LEB), where he served as a Squad Leader and was later promoted to Platoon Sergeant.
After four years of dedicated service with MP Co C, 4th LEB, Sgt Wehrman was promoted to Staff Sergeant (SSgt) and volunteered for a tour of active duty as an EAD recruiter. Serving with Recruiting Station Detroit and later Recruiting Station Cleveland, SSgt Wehrman excelled in the challenging role. His success in recruiting led to his promotion to Gunnery Sergeant (GySgt), and he was subsequently assigned to Support Company, 4th LEB, as the Company Gunnery Sergeant.
In recognition of his exceptional leadership abilities, GySgt Wehrman was promoted to First Sergeant (1stSgt). He was attached to Headquarters and Service Company, 1st Battalion, 24th Marine Regiment (1/24), in Mount Clemens, Michigan. As 1stSgt, Wehrman continues to lead Marines with distinction, and he plans to serve as the Senior Enlisted Leader at H&S Co, 1/24, until his retirement in 2026.
