Sergeant Major Christopher J. Adams
Command Senior Enlisted Leader
4th Marine Division

Sergeant Major Adams enlisted in the Marine Corps in 1993 and attended recruit training at MCRD Parris Island, SC, 3rd Recruit Training Battalion. Upon completion, he attended the School of Infantry at Camp Geiger, for the MOS of 0311, Infantry Rifleman.

Sergeant Major Adams reported to 1st Battalion, 3rd Marines where he participated in several Unit Deployment Programs to Okinawa and Landing Force Cooperation Afloat Readiness and Training. In November 1997, he was promoted to Sergeant and received an honorable discharge. Sergeant Major Adams reported to 4th Low Altitude Air Defense Battalion in Marietta, Georgia as a stinger gunner reservist. He reenlisted back on active duty in May 2000 and attended the Ammunition Technician course at Redstone Arsenal, Alabama. Upon graduation, he was assigned the MOS of 2311, Ammunition Technician. He reported to Ammunition Company, 2nd Supply Battalion, Camp Lejeune, NC and was promoted to Staff Sergeant in January 2001. In February 2003, he deployed in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom.

In October 2003, Sergeant Major Adams reported to Drill Instructor School, MCRD Parris Island, SC and upon graduation was assigned to Charlie Company, 1st Recruit Training Battalion as a Drill Instructor, Senior Drill Instructor and Series Gunnery Sergeant. He was promoted to Gunnery Sergeant in December 2005. Upon completion of drill instructor duty, Sergeant Major Adams reported to Ammunition Company, 2nd Supply Battalion, Camp Lejeune, NC and deployed in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom 06-08.2, upon return he was frocked to First Sergeant in February 2009.

Sergeant Major Adams reported to 2nd Battalion, 2nd Marines (WARLORDS) as the Company F First Sergeant. He deployed to South Helmand Province, Afghanistan for Operation Enduring Freedom 9.2. In March 2011, Sergeant Major Adams reported to 2nd Recruit Training Battalion, MCRD Parris Island, SC, as the Company H First Sergeant. In May 2012, he was assigned as the Company I First Sergeant, 3rd Recruit Training Battalion.

In January 2013, he was assigned as the Headquarters Company First Sergeant, Headquarters and Service Battalion.

In June 2014, Sergeant Major Adams was frocked to his present rank and reported to Marine Light Attack Helicopter Training Squadron (HMLAT) 303. In February 2016, Sergeant Major Adams reported to Marine
Aviation Logistics Squadron (MALS) 39. Sergeant Major Adams reported to Marine Corps Security Force Regiment in September 2017, as the Regimental Sergeant Major. In June 2020, Sergeant Major Adams assumed the post as the Marine Corps Installations National Capital Region-Marine Corps Base Quantico Sergeant Major .

Sergeant Major Adams assumed his current post as the 4th Marine Division Sergeant Major in June 2022.

Sergeant Major Adams has an Associates Degree in Criminal Justice from Park University and continues his studies for a Bachelors Degree.

Sergeant Major Adams' personal awards include the Legion of Merit, Bronze Star with Combat Distinguishing Device, Meritorious Service Medal, Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal in lieu of fourth award, Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal and the Combat Action Ribbon.
