Major Richard N. Lynch

HEADQUARTERS BATTERY, 5TH BATTALION, 14TH MARINE REGIMENT

Major Richard Lynch commissioned into the Marine Corps on 15 May 2011 and attended The Basic School at Quantico, Virginia in June 2011. Second Lieutenant Lynch then reported to Field Artillery Basic Officer Leadership Course in Fort Sill, Oklahoma. Upon graduation he reported to 2d Battalion, 10th Marines, 2nd Marine Division, Camp Lejeune, North Carolina.

In October 2012 Second Lieutenant reported to Company E, 2d Battalion, 9th Marines where he deployed to Afghanistan from January to May of 2013.  Upon returning First Lieutenant Lynch reported to Battery G, 2d Battalion, 10th Marines were he served as a platoon commander and a fire direction officer.  From July 2014 to June 2015 First Lieutenant Lynch served as the Assistant Logistics Officer for 2d Battalion 10th Marines.

In July 2015, Captain Lynch reported to Marine Detachment, Fort Sill, Oklahoma to be a Fire Support Instructor at the Army Field Artillery Basic Officer Leadership Course.  During this time at Captain Lynch took part in the writing of the Marine Artillery Officer Basic Course and also served as the Deputy Branch Chief for the Fire Support Department of both the Army Field Artillery Basic Officer Leadership Course and Marine Artillery Officer Basic Course.

In July 2018 Captain Lynch reported to the Expeditionary Warfare School, Quantico, Virginia.  Upon graduation he reported to 11th Marines, 1st Marine Division, Camp Pendleton where he served at the director of the Artillery Training School and as the Regimental Fire Direction Officer.

In December 2018, Captain Lynch took command of Battery C, 1st Battalion, 11th Marines where he commanded the battery on the 31st MEU.  Upon returning he relinquished command on 17 December 2020 and was assigned as the Assistant Logistics Officer for 1/11.

Major Lynch reported on July 2021 to Marine Corps Training Mission United Arab Emirates as the Deputy Officer In Charge for the Presidential Guard Reconnaissance Brigade advisor team.

On 25 July 2022 Major Lynch reported to 5th Battalion, 14th Marines aboard Naval Weapon Station Seal Beach. He currently serves as the Assistant Inspector-Instructor.

Major Lynch graduated from the Virginia Military Institute with a bachelor of science in mechanical engineering and his personal awards include Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal with a Gold Star in lieu of second of award and Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal.
