First Sergeant Jason L. Cabrera

First Sergeant Jason L. Cabrera is native of Plainview, New York. He graduated from Broadway High School in 1999 and reported to Marine Recruit Training Depot, Parris Island, South Carolina on 10 March, 2003. After completing Marine Combat Training Private First Class Cabrera reported for training as a CH-53 airframe mechanic at the Center for Naval Aviation Technical Training (CNATT) in Jacksonville, North Carolina where he was recognized as the honor graduate, earning meritorious promotion to the rank of Lance Corporal and the Military Occupational Specialty (MOS) 6153, CH-53E helicopter airframe mechanic.  
 
Upon completion of MOS training, Lance Corporal Cabrera executed orders to Heavy Marine Helicopter Squadron (HMH) 461 in Jacksonville, North Carolina on February 13, 2004.  He deployed in October to Djibouti, Africa in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom.  He was promoted to the rank of Corporal in June of 2005. In September of 2006 Corporal Cabrera deployed back to Djibouti, Africa serving as a Collateral Duty Inspector in support of Operation Enduring Freedom.  He was promoted to the rank of Sergeant in September of 2007 and deployed to Djibouti, Africa for a third tour from January 2008, to August 2008, serving as Collateral Duty Quality Assurance Representative and the Non-Commissioned Officer in Charge of the Airframes Division. 
 
After returning from his third deployment to Africa, Sergeant Cabrera received orders to CNATT in Jacksonville, North Carolina, arriving in January of 2009 to serve as an CH-53D/E airframe mechanic MOS Instructor.  He was promoted to Staff Sergeant in June of 2010 and reassigned as a CH-53D/E Instructor Evaluator.  Staff Sergeant Cabrera received temporary additional duty (TAD) orders to Headquarters and Headquarters Support Squadron in Jacksonville, North Carolina where he served as the Training Chief from July 2011 to July 2012.  During his time on TAD he also he earned aircrew wings as an Aerial Observer on the Beechcraft C-12 and earned Additional MOS (AMOS) 6199 Aerial Observer/Gunner.  Upon completion of his TAD, Staff Sergeant Cabrera received orders to HMH-461.
 
Staff Sergeant Cabrera reported to HMH-461 aboard MCAS New River, Jacksonville, North Carolina in July, 2012 where he was assigned as the Airframes Division Staff Non-Commissioned Officer in Charge (SNCOIC).  From February to August of 2013 he deployed to Afghanistan in support of Operation Enduring Freedom.  During the deployment Staff Sergeant Cabrera earned his combat aircrew wings as an aerial gunner. Upon return from Afghanistan he received orders to recruiting duty.
 
He checked in to Basic Recruiters Course December 22, 2013 and upon successful completion, earned AMOS 8411 Recruiter.  Staff Sergeant Cabrera was assigned to Recruiting Station (RS) San Diego, Recruiting Sub-Station (RSS) North Las Vegas, Nevada to serve as a canvassing recruiter.  Shortly after arriving he was additionally assigned as the assistant SNCOIC.  He was meritoriously promoted to the rank of Gunnery Sergeant January 2, 2017 and was assigned as the SNCOIC for RS Salt Lake City, RSS South Las Vegas, Nevada. 
 
Gunnery Sergeant Cabrera received orders and reported to HMH-366 in March of 2018 where he was assigned as the Airframes Division Chief.  In May 2018 he augmented Marine Medium Tiltrotor Squadron (VMM) 264 reinforced and deployed with the 22nd Marine Expeditionary Unit (MEU) to the USS Kearsarge.  He served as the 22nd MEU CH-53 detachment SNCOIC and Airframes Division Chief.  After returning from deployment he was assigned to the Quality Assurance Division.  In November of 2019, Gunnery Sergeant received TAD orders to serve as the Marine Aircraft Group 29 Personnel Support Detachment Senior Enlisted Advisor.
 
He received orders and reported to HMH-464 in October of 2020 where he was assigned as the Maintenance and Material Control Chief.  In July of 2021 he was reassigned as the Operations Chief until February of 2022 when he was promoted to the rank of First Sergeant.  In February 2022, First Sergeant Cabrera was assigned as the acting Sergeant Major for HMH-464.  
 
In March of 2022, First Sergeant Cabrera received orders to 5th Battalion, 14th Marine Regiment where he currently serves as the Inspector-Instructor First Sergeant for Quebec Battery.
