Lieutenant Colonel Charles B. Lynn
Lieutenant Colonel Lynn is a native of Cuthbert, Georgia. After graduating from Georgia State University, LtCol Lynn enlisted in the Marine Corps Reserve and, after boot camp at Parris Island, attended the Stinger Missile gunner school at Ft. Bliss, Texas where he was the honor graduate. After MOS school, then LCpl Lynn was assigned to duty with the 4th LAAD Bn located in Marietta, Georgia.
After receiving his commission in 1996 through the Enlisted Commissioning Program, 2dLt Lynn attended The Basic School and the Infantry Officer’s Course in Quantico. From there he was assigned to duty with 1st Battalion, 3rd Marines in Kaneohe Bay, Hawaii. While with 1/3, he served in Charlie Company as the Platoon Commander for Weapons Platoon, the Company Executive Officer and as the S-3A for the Battalion. During this assignment, Lt Lynn completed two deployments to Okinawa, a company exchange tour with 2nd Royal Australian Army Regiment, as well as multiple deployments throughout Asia to include the Republic of the Philippines, mainland Japan, and the Republic of Korea.
After completing his tour in Hawaii in 2000, 1stLt Lynn was assigned to duty as a Series Officer in the 2nd Recruit Training Battalion at MCRD Parris Island. During this tour, Captain Lynn served as a Series Commander for Golf Company and as the Executive Officer and Commanding Officer of Echo Company. Upon leaving this assignment in 2003, Capt Lynn reported for duty as a student at the Expeditionary Warfare School in Quantico.
Upon graduation from EWS in 2004, Capt Lynn reported for duty with 2nd Battalion, 8th Marines at Camp Lejeune. While assigned to 2/8, Capt Lynn served as the Commanding Officer, Company G and as the Commanding Officer of Weapons Company. As a company commander, Capt Lynn deployed to Iraq with the 26th Marine Expeditionary Unit (SOC) in 2005. During this deployment, Captain Lynn also led a 250 Marine MEU task force in Djibouti, Africa in support of the CJTF-HOA missions. In 2006, Major Lynn became the Operations Officer for 2/8 and deployed to Iraq as part of Operation Iraqi Freedom 05-07.2.
In May of 2007, Maj Lynn separated from 2/8 and reported for duty as a Faculty Advisor at the Expeditionary Warfare School in Quantico where he was the primary instructor for the Defensive package, the Current Operating Environment package and the Infantry Occupational Field Expansion Program.
In 2010, Maj Lynn was selected to attend the School of Advanced Warfighting, where he earned a Master’s Degree in Operational Studies and the 0505 MAGTF Planner MOS.
In 2011, LtCol Lynn reported for duty at Marine Forces Pacific where he served as the Plans Branch Head in the G5 section.
In 2015, LtCol Lynn reported for duty as the Operations Officer for the 3rd Marine Regiment.
In 2016, LtCol Lynn reported for duty as the Operations Officer at the School of Advanced Warfighting, where he currently serves.
Lieutenant Colonel Lynn’s personal decorations include the Bronze Star Medal, the Meritorious Service Medal with 3 Gold Stars, the Combat Action Ribbon and the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medals with Gold Star
