Major Heath A. Gomez
Inspector-Instructor
Foxtrot Company, 2d Battalion, 24th Marine Regiment

Major Gomez is a native of Nipomo, CA.  He enlisted in the Marine Corps January 21, 2003 and attended Marine Corps Recruit Depot in San Diego, California, where upon graduating as the Series Honorman, was meritoriously promoted to Private First Class.
 
Major Gomez attended Marine Combat Training, School of Infantry, Camp Pendleton, California and after graduation in July 2003, Major Gomez attended the Basic Vehicle Repairman Course, Assault Amphibian School, Camp Pendleton, California.  In October 2003, Major Gomez graduated the Basic Vehicle Repairman Course as Class Honorman and was promoted to Lance Corporal.  Upon graduation, Major Gomez was assigned to 3d Assault Amphibian Battalion, Company A, located in Camp Pendleton, California, where he remained until April 2008. 
 
Major Gomez deployed to Iraq in February of 2004 in support of Operation IRAQI FREEDOM II.  Major Gomez served as a platoon Maintenance Chief and was promoted to the rank of Corporal in May 2004.  In July 2004, Major Gomez was combat wounded by an IED while operating in Fallujah, Iraq.  In October 2004, Major Gomez returned from Fallujah.
 
In January 2005, Major Gomez attended the Intermediate Maintenance Course at Assault Amphibian School Battalion.  Upon graduation, Major Gomez was attached to 2d Platoon, Company A, where he served as a Maintenance Chief.  In July 2005, Major Gomez was promoted to the rank of Sergeant aboard the USS Pelelui anchored in Pearl Harbor, HI.  In November 2005, Major Gomez deployed with the 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit while attached to Battalion Landing Team, 2d Battalion, 5th Marine Regiment.  Major Gomez returned home and re-enlisted in February 2007.
 
Major Gomez attended the Combat Marksmanship Instructor Trainer Course in August 2007.  In April 2008, Major Gomez attended Drill Instructor School at Marine Recruit Depot, San Diego.  Upon graduation, Major Gomez was assigned to 2d Battalion, Company F.  In February 2009, Major Gomez was promoted to the rank of Staff Sergeant.  In October 2010 Major Gomez was accepted into the Marine Enlisted Commissioning Education Program where he attended California State University, San Marcos.  Major Gomez attended Officer Candidate School in Quantico, Virginia in the summer of 2012 and graduated second out of his class and earned the highest leadership average in the battalion.
 
Major Gomez commissioned as a 2nd Lieutenant on 21 December 2013 aboard the USS Midway.  Upon completion of The Basic School, Major Gomez attended Infantry Officer's Course in Quantico, Virginia, graduating from Class 02-15 in April 2015.  He was subsequently assigned as Platoon Commander, Company G, 2d Battalion, 1st Marine Regiment in Camp Pendleton, California.  Major Gomez graduated from the Helicopter Rope Suspension Techniques (HRST) Course and inherited the role as lead HRST Master of 2d Battalion, 1st Marines.  Major Gomez deployed as a Platoon/Tactical Recovery Aircraft/Personnel (TRAP) Commander on the 13th Marine Expeditionary Unit in February 2016.
 
In October 2016, Major Gomez transferred to Company E, “Warhammer,” and served as the Company Executive Officer until June 2018.  Major Gomez deployed on the Unit Deployment Program to Okinawa, Japan.  
 
Upon his return, Major Gomez executed orders to Marine Barracks, Washington D.C. and served as the H&S Company Executive Officer, Platoon Commander and Executive Officer, Company B, and finished his tour as the Assistant Operations Officer, H&S Company.  Major Gomez was selected on the Commandant's Career-Level Education Board to attend Maneuver Captain's Career Course, Fort Benning, Georgia, graduating 27 August 2021.
 
Major Gomez received orders to 3rd Battalion, 6th Marine Regiment, 2d Marine Division and checked-in on 16 September 2021 after completing 2nd Marine Division's Division Leadership Assessment Program.  Majoir Gomez took command of Co K, 3rd Battalion, 6th Marines on 20 October 2021.  From October to November, Major Gomez was deployed (CONUS) to Fort Pickett, Virginia in support of Operation Allies Welcome.  He then deployed his company on the Unit Deployment Program 23.1 to Okinawa, Japan.  Upon his return, Major Gomez executed orders to Site Support - Milwaukee, Wisconsin, and is currently serving as Inspector-Instructor, Company F, 2d Battalion, 24th Marines, 23rd Marine Regiment.
 
Major Gomez's personal awards include the Purple Heart, Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal, Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal, and Combat Action Ribbon.
