Biography

 

First Sergeant Bradley A. Wenk

First Sergeant Wenk is a native of Long Beach, California and was raised in Grand Rapids, Michigan. His Marine Corps career started on May 4 2009 when he attended Marine Corps Recruit Training at Marine Corps Recruit Depot, San Diego, California.  
 
Following graduation from boot camp, Marine Combat Training and occupational specialty school, Private First Class Wenk was assigned to Marine Wing Support Squadron 273 in Beaufort, South Carolina as a Data Systems Technician.  
 
While stationed at MCAS Beaufort with MWSS 273, Private First Class Wenk was promoted to Lance Corporal in July 2010 and selected for meritorious promotion to Corporal in June 2011. Corporal Wenk deployed in support of Operation Enduring Freedom in 2012, serving as Data Chief, Operations, and rotary wing ATC at FOB/COP Delaram 2.  Following his deployment, in  2012, he was promoted to Sergeant and assigned as the Platoon Sergeant for the Marine Wing Support Squadron 273 S6.

In February 2014, Sergeant Wenk received orders to the Marine Corps University, Education Command, Quantico, Virginia to serve as a Cyber Network Operator. In April 2016, he was promoted to Staff Sergeant and assumed the responsibilities as the Data Chief. During his time here he was apart of the team that designed and implemented the network system that would come to be known as the usmc.edu network for Education Command.
  
In March 2017, Staff Sergeant Wenk was assigned to Marine Corps Forces Korea and served as the Cyber Network Systems Chief, while in this billet he served as the Operations Chief and Communications Chief for Marine Forces Korea in Operations Key Resolve and Ulchi Gulf Freedom at Camp Mujuk, South Korea. During this time Staff Sergeant Wenk was responsible for the movement of the Marine Forces Korea Headquarters from Yongsan, South Korea to its new home in Pohang, South Korea. This movement required the establishment and design of the black core routing systems on the public domain to allow network connections on the peninsula. For his efforts and contributions Staff Sergeant Wenk was awarded the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal.

In April 2018, Staff Sergeant Wenk volunteered for Recruiting duty and received orders to Recruiting Sub-Station Boston, Massachusetts and served as a canvassing recruiter until August 2018. During this period Staff Sergeant Wenk received a impact Navy and Marine Corps Achievement medal for his contribution of singlehandedly recruiting the stations female, reservist, and MEOP band members for the Commanding officers mission. 
 
In August 2018, he was selected to take over Recruiting Sub-Station Brockton as the Station Commander. On June 2 2020, he was meritoriously promoted to the rank of Gunnery Sergeant. Gunnery Sergeant Wenk received a Navy and Marine Corps Commendation medal for his teams efforts during the height of the COVID 19 recruiting pandemic.

In July 2021, Gunnery Sergeant Wenk reported to the Marine Detachment in Fort Eisenhower, Georgia. He is  served as the Data Chief and Company Gunnery Sergeant for the Joint Cyber School house. In Nov 2021 Gunnery Sergeant Wenk took over the collateral duty as the Primary action officer for the Marine Mud Challenge, an annual obstacle course race with 2000+ runners. On April 1, 2024 he was frocked to his current rank of First Sergeant. He was awarded the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation medal for his efforts while serving in these billets.
 
In June 2024, First Sergeant Wenk reported to his current assignment at Company G, 2d Battalion, 24th Marines, Madison, WI. He is currently serving as the Inspector-Instructor First Sergeant.

First Sergeant Wenk’s personal awards include: Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal with one gold star, Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal with one gold star, the Marine Corps Good Conduct Medal with 3 Bronze stars.
