Major Jeffrey D. Buck
Commanding Officer, Weapons Company, 2nd Battalion, 24th Marine Regiment

Major Buck serves as Weapons Company Commander, 2d Battalion, 24th Marines, 4th Marine Division, Fort Sheridan, IL.


Major Buck is a native of Pittsburgh, PA., and was raised across the eastern United States to include Pittsburgh, PA; Columbus, OH; Chicago, IL; and Atlanta, GA.  He joined the NROTC program at the University of Southern California in August of 1999 and was commissioned a Second Lieutenant in the Marine Corps on May 2004, having completed his undergraduate education in Architecture.


Following Basic School and the Infantry Officer Course, he was assigned to 2d Battalion, 1st Marines in May 2005.  During this tour, Major Buck served as Rifle Platoon Commander, Company Executive Officer, and Assistant Operations Officer participating in three deployments; the 13th Marine Expeditionary Unit to Iraq, 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit to the western Pacific, and a Military Transition Team to Irag.


In May 2009, Major Buck completed Marine Special Operations Command Assessment and Selection and transferred to Marine Special Operations Command, Camp Lejuene, NC, where he served as Assistant Operations Officer, Future Operations Office, and Training and Exercises Officer.  In August of 2012, Major Buck transferred to the Marine Corps Reserves after earning a Master’s of Business Administration from East Carolina University and was assigned as Company Commander, Fox Company, Anti-Terrorism Battalion, 4th Marine Division, Lafayette, LA.


In Sep 2014, Major Buck was transferred to 4th Tank Battalion after Anti-Terrorism Battalion’s colors were retired. Major Buck concurrently served as detachment officer in charge, TOW Platoon Commander, and Scout Platoon Commander until Sep 2015. On Oct 2015, Major Buck transitioned to the Individual Ready Reserve and attended Command and Staff in Quantico, VA until May 2017.


Major Buck’s personal decorations include the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (2nd award) and the Navy Achievement Medal with combat distinguishing device.


Major Buck currently works as a Program Manager for AmerisourceBergen.
