Biography

 

Major Edward W. Miller IV
Commanding Officer
Weapons Company, 2d Battalion, 24th Marine Regiment

Major Miller was commissioned via the Naval Reserve Officer Training Corps at the University of Illinois in May 2010.  After completing The Basic School in December 2010 and the Infantry Officer Course in March 2011, he received orders to 3d Battalion, 1st Marines at Camp Pendleton, CA. 

Major Miller served as rifle platoon commander and company executive officer for India Company, completing deployments with the 11th Marine Expeditionary Unit and a Unit Deployment Program (UDP) to Okinawa, Japan. 

Following the UDP to Okinawa, Major Miller separated from active duty and joined the Selected Marine Corps Reserve, affiliating as a platoon commander with Echo Company, 2nd Battalion, 24th Marines in Chicago, IL in May 2014. 

In October 2015, Major Miller transferred to 3d Civil Affairs Group, where he filled the billet of Civil-Military Operations Planner.  

In October 2017, Major Miller transferred to Company B, 1st Battalion, 24th Marines.  Major Miller served as company executive officer and company commander, completing ITX 4-19, exercise Nordic Frost, and homesite Annual Training periods. 

In September 2021, Major Miller returned to 3d Civil Affairs Group, serving as Civil Affairs Team Leader and completing Exercise Ulchi Freedom Shield in Seoul, Korea and Raven Exercise in Camp Shelby, MI. 

Major Miller joined Weapons Company, 2nd Battalion, 24th Marines in August 2023. 

Major Miller is an aerospace engineer at Ball Aerospace.
