Sergeant Major Steven D. Gabrielson assumed the duties of Site Support MAG-49 Det B, 4th MAW, Newburgh, NY Sergeant Major on 5 January 2024.

Sergeant Major Gabrielson reported to Marine Corps Recruit Depot, Parris Island, South Carolina, for recruit training on June 24, 2000. After graduating in September 2000, he transferred to Camp Geiger, North Carolina, for Marine Combat Training. Private Gabrielson then reported to 29 Palms, California, for Field Wireman Training, graduating on December 20, 2000. 

In January 2001, Private First Class Gabrielson reported to Marine Wing Support Squadron (MWSS) 272, New River Air Station, Jacksonville, North Carolina, as a Field Wireman. In May 2002, Lance Corporal Gabrielson deployed to Spain for Exercise Dynamic Mix. Lance Corporal Gabrielson was redeployed with MWSS 272 in March 2003 in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom. In January 2004, Corporal Gabrielson reported for duty at Marine Corps Security Force Battalion, Norfolk, Virginia, where he served as a company radio operator. In July 2005, Sergeant Gabrielson reported to Marine Corps Security Force Company Europe as a company radio operator supporting Joint Multi-National Training in Hohenfels and Grafenworhr, Germany.  

In March 2007, Sergeant Gabrielson reported to Camp Lejeune, North Carolina, as the Wire Supervisor for 1st Battalion 9th Marines.   In April 2008, Sergeant Gabrielson deployed as Multi-Channel and Wire Supervisor for Task Force 1/9 in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom 08.1. In March 2009, Staff Sergeant Gabrielson reported to 2nd Marine Logistics Group to serve as Battalion Wire Chief for Combat Logistics Battalion 2. In June 2010, Staff Sergeant Gabrielson deployed to Afghanistan in support of Operation Enduring Freedom 10.2. During that time, he served as Chief Instructor for Corporals Course 20-10.  

In May 2011, Staff Sergeant Gabrielson reported to Inspector-Instructor Staff, 4th MLG Communications Company, Greensboro, North Carolina, where he served as Switching Chief, SACO, and Funeral Honors SNCOIC. In April 2014, Staff Sergeant Gabrielson reported to 7th Communications Battalion, Okinawa, Japan, to serve as Telecommunications Systems Chief in Company A.  During this time, Gunnery Sergeant Gabrielson served as SNCOIC for Tactical Networking Platoon and Communications Detachment OIC for the Pacific Command and Control Element Philippines.

In May 2017, Gunnery Sergeant Gabrielson reported to Marine Wing Communications Squadron 38, Miramar Air Station, San Diego, California, where he served as the Networking Platoon SNCOIC for Detachment Bravo.  In June 2018 being reassigned as the Detachment First Sergeant.  January 2019, First Sergeant Gabrielson was reassigned to 2nd Battalion 4th Marines, 5th Marine Regiment to serve as Company First Sergeant in Company G.

In August 2019, First Sergeant Gabrielson was transferred to 1st Battalion 5th Marines to serve as Company First Sergeant for Company B., deploying on the 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit patrol 19.1, where Company B served as Vertical Air Assault Company. In April 2021, First Sergeant Gabrielson was reassigned to Headquarters and Serve Company to serve as Company First Sergeant and redeployed on the 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit patrol 21.1. In February 2023, First Sergeant Gabrielson was transferred to Advanced Infantry Training Battalion, School of Infantry West, to serve as Company First Sergeant at Infantry Unit Leaders Training Company.

Sergeant Major Gabrielson graduated with honors from Ashford University on July 4, 2016, obtaining a Bachelor of Arts in Organizational Management.

Sergeant Major Gabrielson's personal awards include the Meritorious Service Medal, Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal with two gold stars in lieu of second and third award; and the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal with two gold stars in lieu of second and third award.
