Lieutenant Colonel Matthew R. Queen

Lieutenant Colonel Queen enlisted in the Marine Corps in November 2002, attending recruit training at MCRD San Diego.  After graduation, and upon the completion of Marine Combat Training, he attended Naval Aircrew Candidate School in Pensacola, Florida. 

In April 2003, he received orders to Marine Corps Air Station (MCAS) New River in Jacksonville, North Carolina, to attend the V-22 Mechanics and Crew Chief course while assigned to VMMT-204.  In November of 2003 he was assigned to VMX-22 as a V-22 Crew Chief. 

In June 2006, LtCol Queen was accepted to the Enlisted Commissioning Program and attended Officer Candidate School, Class-192 in Quantico, Virginia.  Following OCS, he reported to The Basic School and was subsequently assigned the MOS of an Aircraft Maintenance Officer.

In July 2007, he reported to Marine Aviation Logistics Squadron (MALS)-39 in Camp Pendleton, California where he served as the OIC for Ground Support Equipment and Aviation Life Support Systems Divisions. In November 2007, he transferred to Marine Light Attack Helicopter Squadron (HMLA) 367 where he served as the Maintenance Material Control Officer. While assigned to HMLA-367, LtCol Queen deployed to Iraq in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom in 2008 as well as Afghanistan in support of Operation Enduring Freedom from October 2009 to April 2010.

In July 2010, LtCol Queen received orders the 3d Marine Aircraft Wing and served as the Rotary Wing Class Desk Officer.

In July 2011, LtCol Queen reported to Expeditionary Warfare School in Quantico, Virginia. Upon graduation in May 2012, LtCol Queen reported to Region 5, Marine Corps Embassy Security Group, Frankfurt, Germany where he served as Executive Officer, Operations Officer, and Inspecting Officer.

In July 2015, LtCol Queen received orders to MALS-26 aboard MCAS New River, Jacksonville, NC where he served as the Assistant Aircraft Maintenance Officer.

In June 2016, LtCol Queen reported to 2d Marine Expeditionary Brigade where he served as the Senior Watch Officer and Deputy Current Operations Officer.

In June 2017, LtCol Queen received orders to serve as the Commanding Officer for Aviation Maintenance Squadron-1, Marine Aviation Training Support Group-23 aboard Naval Air Station Pensacola, FL.

In July 2019, LtCol Queen received orders to the Missile Warning Center, U. S. Space Command at Cheyenne Mountain Space Force Station, where he served as the J3 Chief of Operations and J7 Chief of Training, Standardization, and Evaluations.

In June 2023, LtCol Queen reported to Marine Aircraft Group 49 Detachment B where he currently serves as the Commanding Officer.

His personal decorations include the Defense Meritorious Service Medal, Meritorious Service Medal, Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (3rd award), Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (3rd award).
