Sergeant Major Glen R. Schoot
Inspector-Instructor Command Senior Enlisted Leader
4th Combat Engineer Battalion

Sergeant Major Schoot enlisted in the Marine Corps and went to recruit training at Marine Corps Recruit Depot, Parris Island in September 2001.  In January 2002 he reported for Marine Combat Training at Camp Lejeune, NC.  Upon graduation, he reported to Aviation Ordnance “A” School Naval Air Station Pensacola, Florida and Aviation Ordnance “C” School in Camp Pendleton, CA.  

In June 2002, Sergeant Major Schoot was attached to HML/A-269 as an H-1 Aviation Ordnance Technician.  In January 2003 the squadron deployed in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom.  In January 2004, Sergeant Major Schoot attached to HMM(REIN)-263 24th Marine Expeditionary Unit and deployed to Iraq operating throughout the Northern Babil Province. 

In March 2005 Sergeant Major Schoot attached to HML/A-167, Marine Corps Air Station New River, North Carolina before returning to HML/A-269 and completing two more deployments to Iraq in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom.  After returning from deployment, Sergeant Major Schoot received orders to Drill Instructor School, Marine Corps Recruit Depot (MCRD) Parris Island, South Carolina.

Upon graduation of Drill Instructor School, Sergeant Major Schoot reported to 3rd Recruit Training Battalion, India Company.  Sergeant Major Schoot served in the billets of Drill Instructor, Senior Drill Instructor, Chief Drill Instructor, and Battalion Operations Chief during his tour at MCRD Parris Island.

In March of 2011, Sergeant Major Schoot reported to Marine All Weather Fighter Attack Squadron 224 aboard Marine Corps Air Station Beaufort, South Carolina where he served as the Ordnance Division Workcenter Supervisor.  In September 2012, he deployed to Marine Corps Air Station Iwakuni, Japan in support of the Unit Deployment Program 12.2. 

In May 2013, Sergeant Major Schoot was selected as the Assistant Marine Officer Instructor (AMOI) for the University of South Carolina.  Throughout this tour as an AMOI, Sergeant Major Schoot augmented at Officer Candidates School (OCS), Quantico VA.  At OCS, he served in the billets of Sergeant Instructor and Platoon Sergeant. 
 
Sergeant Major Schoot reported to Marine Aviation Logistics Squadron 31 in Beaufort, SC in May 2016 as the Ordnance Department Staff Non-Commissioned Officer-in-Charge (SNCOIC).   

In December 2016, Sergeant Major Schoot was selected to the rank of First Sergeant. 

Sergeant Major Schoot reported to 2d Battalion, 2d Marines in February 2017 and served as the Weapons Company, Company E, and H&S Company First Sergeant.  While assigned, he deployed to Marine Rotational Forces-Europe Norway in July 2017 as the Norway Detachment senior enlisted advisor and in August 2019 as the H&S First Sergeant on Unit Deployment Program-East 19.2 to Okinawa, Japan.  Sergeant Major Schoot reported to 2d Assault Amphibian Battalion in May 2020 where he served as the Headquarters and Service Company First Sergeant.  

In February 2022, he assumed his current assignment as Inspector-Instructor Sergeant Major, 4th Combat Engineer Battalion.

Sergeant Major Schoot's personal awards and decorations include the Meritorious Service Medal with one gold star, Navy/Marine Corps Commendation Medal with two gold stars, Navy/Marine Corps Achievement Medal with one gold star, and a Bachelors of Arts degree from the University of South Carolina.
