Lieutenant Colonel Steven Travis Contrascere

LtCol Steven Travis Contrascere reported to MCRD Parris Island for Recruit Training in July 2000.  Shortly after afterwards, LCpl Contrascere was selected for an NROTC Scholarship.  He graduated from Armstrong State University in May 2005 with a Bachelor of Arts in History (Magna Cum Laude) and designated a Secretary of the Navy Distinguished Midshipman Graduate.

2ndLt Contrascere reported to The Basic School in September 2005.  He graduated from Ground Supply Officer Course in September 2006 and was assigned to Delta Co (REIN), 3rd Assault Amphibian Battalion, 29 Palms, CA as the Company Supply Officer.  Shortly thereafter, 2ndLt Contrascere was reassigned to 3rd Battalion, 7th Marines as the Supply Officer and deployed twice with the battalion in support of OIF.  While assigned to 3/7, the Battalion received the 1st Marine Division Supply Account of the Quarter award.

In May 2009, 1stLt Contrascere reported to Recruiting Station Cleveland as the Executive Officer and subsequently promoted to Captain in August 2009.  In addition to the myriad of community programs and community relations events, Capt Contrascere oversaw the recruiting planning efforts during 2012 Marine Week Cleveland.

In August 2012, Capt Contrascere was selected for Career Level School and attended the US Army Combined Logistics Captains Career Course Ft Lee, VA.  Capt Contrascere graduated as a CLCCC Honor Graduate and ranked #2 student in the course in March 2013.

In April 2013, Capt Contrascere was assigned to the 24th Marine Expeditionary Unit as the Supply Officer.  In December 2014, the MEU deployed with the Iwo Jima ARG in support of Operation Inherent Resolve.  Capt Contrascere led the Naval Logistic Integration efforts between the MEU and the ARG and was critical to the establishment of the Supply & Maintenance Analysis Readiness Team (SMART).  In September 2015 he was promoted to the rank of Major.

In September 2015, Major Contrascere was assigned as the Training Team Officer, 1st Marine District, Garden City, NY.  He oversaw the training of the entire Marine recruiting force for the Northeastern United States and was the lead inspector for all 1st MCD Systematic Recruiting Inspections.  In March 2018, Maj Contrascere was honorably discharged from the Active Component and subsequently accepted a commission in the Marine Corps Reserve.    

In April 2018, Maj Contrascere joined the Active Reserve and was assigned as the Prior Service Recruiting Station 6 Officer-in-Charge.  He oversaw the transition of the PSRS HQ from Marietta, GA to Parris Island, SC.    During FY19 and FY20, PSRS 6 successfully achieved its fiscal year SELRES recruiting mission by component and category. 

During the COVID-19 pandemic, Maj Contrascere was assigned as the Operations Officer, Headquarters & Service Battalion, MCRD Parris Island in April 2020.  Maj Contrascere oversaw HQSVCBN efforts in COVID-19 mitigation operations aboard the Depot and hurricane disaster/recruit training COOP planning. 

Upon selection to Lieutenant Colonel, Maj Contrascere was assigned as the Force Supply Officer, MARFORRES in July 2020.  In April 2021, Maj Contrascere was selected for and subsequently attended the FEDEX Global Logistics Operations Summit in Memphis, TN.  In August 2021 he was promoted to his current rank.  As the Force Supply Officer, LtCol Contrascere spearheaded the efforts to bring full inclusion of MARFORRES under the Consolidated Storage Program and the reorganization of MARFORRES intermediate supply at MCLB Albany, GA.  Additionally, LtCol Contrascere oversaw the bi-annual Training Allowance (TA) review and in collaboration with the Logistics Systems Coordination Office (LSCO) updating GCSS-MC to include a TA field within the system.

In February 2023, LtCol Contrascere transferred to Force Headquarters Group as the Deputy Assistant Chief of Staff G-7 and the Deputy Command Inspector General.  As the Deputy Inspector General, LtCol Contrascere was responsible for addressing all Inspector General Hotline Complaints assigned to the FHG as well as overseeing the coordination and execution of the Commanding General’s Inspection Program.       

LtCol Contrascere is a graduate of the Joint & Combined Warfighting School, Marine Corps Command and Staff College Distance Education Program (Distinguished Graduate), a Certified Manager through the Institute of Certified Professional Managers, earned his Business Analytics Certificate from Harvard Business School Online, is a published Marine Corps Gazette author, and holds a Masters of Business Administration (Distinguished Graduate Honors) from Webster University.
