Lieutenant Colonel Thibodeau enlisted in the United States Marine Corps on February 19, 1992. Upon graduation from High School, he reported for boot camp at MCRD Parris Island, South Carolina on January 20, 1993. After completion of MCT at Camp Geiger, North Carolina, Private Thibodeau reported to MOS School at Fort McClellan, Alabama for Military Police training. Upon completion of MOS training in
October 1993, Private First Class Thibodeau executed PCS orders to MCAS Tustin, Tustin, California.
In May of 1995, Lance Corporal Thibodeau reported to Marine Security Guard Battalion at Quantico, Virginia. Upon graduation from Marine Security Guard School, he was posted at the American Embassy Nairobi, Kenya. In September of 1996, Corporal Thibodeau reported to American Embassy Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
In May of 1998, Sgt Thibodeau returned to MSG BN, Quantico VA and executed EAS.
In July 2001, Second Lieutenant Thibodeau received his commission through the Platoon Leader’s Course after graduating from the University of South Florida, where he earned a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology. After completing The Basic School, he reported to Dam Neck, Virginia for Air Intelligence School. After completing Air Intelligence School and Joint Targeting School, he reported to 3rd Marine Aircraft Wing, MCAS Miramar, California as the 3rd MAW G-2 Targeting OIC.
In February 2004, First Lieutenant Thibodeau deployed with 3rd MAW to Al ASAD, Iraq as the Tactical Air Command Center, Intelligence Watch Officer. In August 2004, he redeployed back to MCAS Miramar and was assigned as the S-2 for Marine Aircraft Group 39, MCAS Camp Pendleton, California. In September 2005, 1stLT Thibodeau executed EAS.
In February of 2006, Capt Thibodeau accepted a reserve commission and assumed duties as the Executive Officer for A Company, 6th Motor Transport Battalion, Orlando, Florida. From October 2006 to September 2008, Capt Thibodeau was mobilized as the Reserve Liaison Officer for Program Manager Training Systems, MARCORSYSCOM, Orlando, FL.
In September 2008, Capt Thibodeau applied and accepted a commission in the Active Reserve Program. In September 2008, Capt Thibodeau reported to MAGTF Intelligence Officer Course in Dam Neck Virginia. After training, he reported to MCAS Miramar as the Inspector Instructor for Alpha Company, Intelligence Support Battalion.
In August 2011, Capt Thibodeau was promoted to Major and assigned to Manpower and Reserve Affairs, Reserve Affairs, Reserve Continuation and Training Branch MCB, Quantico, Virginia. From August 2011 to August 2013, Maj Thibodeau was assigned as the Reserve Incentives and Training OIC.
Major Thibodeau applied and was selected for resident Intermediate Level School. In August of 2013, he reported to Command and Staff Quantico, VA. Upon completion of ILS, Maj Thibodeau received orders to Headquarters Marine Corps, Intelligence Department in the Pentagon, Washington, D.C.
In July 2014, Major Thibodeau assumed duties as the Operational Sponsor for Intelligence Department. From May to November 2015, Maj Thibodeau deployed to Iraq and was assigned as the Ground Watch Officer in the Combined Joint Operations Center for the Combined Joint Forces Land Component, Iraq in support of Operation Inherent Resolve.
In July 2017, Maj Thibodeau reported to Marine Forces Reserve for assignment as the Executive Officer for Headquarters Battalion, Marine Forces Reserve. In September 2017, Lieutenant Colonel Thibodeau was promoted to his present rank.
LtCol Thibodeau applied and was selected for Top Level School. In August 2020, he reported to National Defense University, National War College Fort McNair, Washington, D.C. where he earned a Master of Science in National Security Strategy.
Upon Completion of TLS, LtCol Thibodeau received orders to Headquarters Marine Corps, Plans, Policies, & Operations (PP&O), Current Operations Branch (POC) in the Pentagon, Washington, D.C.
LtCol Thibodeau applied and was selected for the Reserve Command Screening Board. In June 2022, he reported to Camp Pendleton for his current assignment as the Inspector Instructor 1st Civil Affairs Group.
His personal decorations include the Defense Meritorious Service Medal, Meritorious Service Medal (2nd Award), Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (2nd Award), Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal and Good Conduct Medal.
