Biography

 

First Sergeant Jorge A. Guajardo

First Sergeant Jorge A. Guajardo is a native of Fort Worth, Texas. He enlisted into the Marine Corps on 2 December 2002 and completed recruit training at Marine Corps Recruit Depot San Diego, California. Upon graduation from recruit training, he attended Basic Combat Engineer School, Camp Lejeune, North Carolina.  Following graduation, he was assigned the MOS 1371, Combat Engineer.

 First Sergeant Guajardo then executed orders to 9th Engineer Support Battalion, Okinawa, Japan, where he served as a Combat Engineer and Fire Team Leader. In December of 2003, he was assigned to the 31st MEU and deployed to Korea, Thailand, and Singapore as a Fire Team Leader. In September of 2004, he reported to Marine Headquarters Group and deployed to Iraq in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom II (Phantom Fury) as a Combat Engineer.

In June of 2005, First Sergeant Guajardo was assigned to 1st Combat Engineer Battalion, Bravo Company and deployed to Iraq in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom 5-07 as a Squad Leader. During this deployment, he was promoted combat meritoriously to Sergeant and received a Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal with a distinguishing device for combat valor. Shortly after returning, he was assigned to Sappers School and served as a Counter Improvised Explosive Devise Instructor. First Sergeant then requested orders to Drill Instructor School San Diego, California.

In April of 2007, First Sergeant Guajardo reported to Drill Instructor School San Diego, California. Upon completion he obtained the BMOS 0911 and served as Drill Instructor and Senior Drill Instructor. During his tour, he was meritoriously promoted to the rank of Staff Sergeant. He also received a Navy and Marine Achievement Medal (2nd award).

In June of 2010, First Sergeant Guajardo executed orders to The Basic School, Quantico, Virginia. He served as a Platoon Sergeant at The Basic School and Sergeant Instructor at Officer Candidate School. During his time at Officer Candidate School, he was awarded Sergeant Instructor of the Cycle and received recognition from the Marine Corps Association. He was then assigned to India Company and concluded his tour serving as the Company Gunnery Sergeant for the Warrant Officer Basic Course. He was award the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal for his efforts while holding this billet.  

 In July of 2013 First Sergeant Guajardo executed orders to Bridge Company, 7th Engineer Support Battalion where he served as Company Gunnery Sergeant. He then executed temporary additional duty (TAD) orders to 1st Combat Logistic Battalion where he served at the Company Operations Chief/Company Gunnery Sergeant for Engineer Support Company. While at 1st Combat Logistics Battalion, he deployed to Afghanistan in support of OEF 14-2. For his effort during this deployment First Sergeant Guajardo was awarded the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal in lieu of second award.

Upon completion of his duties at 1st Combat Logistics Battalion, First Sergeant Guajardo returned to 7th Engineer Support Battalion and received orders to report to 1st Combat Engineer Battalion in December of 2014.  While serving at 1st Combat Engineer Battalion First Sergeant served as the Engineer Support Company First Sergeant, Headquarters and Services Company First Sergeant, and Bravo Company First Sergeant. In February 2017 First Sergeant Guajardo was promoted to his current rank.   

In March of 2017 First Sergeant Guajardo reported to Alpha Company, 4th Law Enforcement Battalion, Inspector Instructor Duty (Lexington Kentucky), as the Inspector Instructor First Sergeant and currently serving in this billet.

First Sergeant Guajardo’s personal decorations include the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal in lieu of 2nd award, Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (Combat Valor in lieu of 2nd award), and Good Conduct Medal (4th award).
