First Sergeant Lee Cox

First Sergeant Cox enlisted in the Marine Corps delayed entry program in July 1995 and attended Recruit Training at MCRD Parris Island, SC in July 1996.  In September 1996, he attended Marine Combat Training (MCT) at Camp Geiger, NC.  After completing MCT, he went on to Ft. Leonardwood, MO for MOS training and was assigned the MOS of 3533, Logistics Vehicle System (LVS) Operator.

In February 1997, Private First Class Cox reported to Combat Service Support Group 3, Motor Transport Company, Marine Corps Base Hawaii where he served as a Motor Transportation Operator.  He was promoted to the rank of Lance Corporal in May 1997 and to the rank of Corporal in May 1998.  During this time he participated in Operation Foal Eagle in Korea and on Operation Crocodile “99 in Australia.  Corporal Cox was honorably discharged in July 2000.  In January 2001, Corporal Cox re-enlisted and attended Aviation Supply School in Meridian, MS and was assigned the MOS of 6672, Aviation Supply Clerk. 

In June 2001, he was assigned to Marine Aviation Logistics Squadron 14 aboard MCAS Cherry Point, NC.   He was promoted to the rank of Sergeant in November 2001 and to the rank of Staff Sergeant in February 2005.  While there, he served as a Warehouse Chief and a Corporals Course Instructor. During that time, he also deployed to Bahrain in support of Operation Enduring Freedom.     

From October 2005 to December 2005, Staff Sergeant Cox attended Drill Instructor School, at MCRD Parris Island, SC.  Upon completion, he was assigned to 3rd Recruit Training Battalion, Mike Company where he served as a Drill Instructor, Senior Drill Instructor and Series Gunnery Sergeant.  In October 2007, he returned to Drill Instructor School as an instructor, and trained five classes of Marines.  Staff Sergeant Cox was meritoriously to Gunnery Sergeant in January 2008. 

In January 2009, Gunnery Sergeant Cox received orders back to Marine Corps Base Hawaii and was assigned to Marine Aviation Logistics Squadron 24 in the Aviation Supply Department and held the billets of the Supply Response Division SNCOIC, Squadron Gunnery Sergeant, and Warehouse Chief. In August 2011 he deployed to Afghanistan until March 2012. Upon return, he was selected for AMOI duty and in May 2012, he reported to OCS, Quantico, VA where he completed two increments as a Sergeant Instructor in India Company.     

In August 2012, Gunnery Sergeant Cox reported to NROTC Unit, North Carolina State University as the unit's AMOI.  He was promoted to the rank of First Sergeant in May 2013 and reported to 4th Supply Bn, Supply Co (-), I & I Staff Raleigh, North Carolina which was later designated as Supply Co, CLB 451, CLR 45, 4TH MLG. 

First Sergeant Cox’s personal awards include the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal with three gold stars and the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal with two gold stars.
